Be the Caribbean Luxury Resort you will choose this year
It's apparently not enough to be an exclusive resort on St Lucia. Many glitzy glamorous hotels and resorts now make claim to be the premier luxury resort in St Lucia. One such resort is The Landings A Rock Resort.
The big question therefore has to be does it have a fair claim to this position, or how good a resort is it for you to choose it for your vacation this year.
Firstly The Landings A Rock Resort has 62 rooms, which come as one, two, or three bedroom suites, with full kitchens, state of the art amenities, a private terraces. That is the basic fact about your accommodation, but the scale of the accommodation and the sheer quality of the appliances certainly does justice to the claim of being a top luxury resort in St Lucia.
If you are travelling en famille, and you have a couple of small children in tow, then the one bedroomed suite will be easily big enough. The kitchen well enough equipped to be able to stay in and cook successfully and without any stress. You may not realise that the suites are privately owned so if you want to cook and do laundry then you will need kitchen consumeables.
The two bedroom suites are absolutely enormous, and have two balconies, one overlooking the gardens and the other the beach, the beautiful blue sea, and Pigeon Island, with stunning sunsets to watch as you sip a rum punch.
At this time May 2008, The Landings A Rock Resort is not finished so there is some building work going on, and whilst this doesn't really disturb, it does mean they don't have the kind of shop that would sell suncream or toothpaste, or camera film, or batteries etc., and this means a trip into Rodney Bay. Now The Landings has great drivers, but there is a cost involved here. There would be a lot of sense in hiring a car, and if you are British you should be pleased because they drive on the left hand side of the road in St Lucia.
Another reason to have a car obviously is to see the island, but the fact there is only one restaurant at the resort is a bit limiting at this time, so some exploration to find eating establishments is required.
These two factors at this time probably make the claim that The Landings A Rock Resort is the premier luxury resort in St Lucia a bit fanciful, but this is offset by the quite superbly helpful staff, and the housekeepers are top quality, and if you have stayed in supposedly top exclusive resorts you will know this isn't always the case.
One other small issue is that there is only one pool with two hot tubs, although you couldn't fault it in any way at all, and sunbeds aren't a problem. You can be certain before very long this facility will be increased as it is quite obvious that Rock Resorts intend to live up to their boast as the premiere resort on Antigua.
You will have a great time at The Landings A Rock Resort, and it is already an exclusive hotel, perhaps not quite yet a top Caribbean Luxury Resort but that is only a matter of time.
Resort In St Lucia
When asking about a Couples Resort on St Lucia, the first name that you hear mentioned is that of the Rendezvous St Lucia. The real question about any Couples resort, is it the right type of place for you?
Many people feel that this type of vacation may not be for them, as it could have the sort of holiday camp, lets be active playing volleyball, music blaring all day, noisy bar life at night, so it might be interesting for you to discover what to expect at the Rendezcous Hotel St Lucia.
The beachfront Rendezvous Resort is not too far from Castries and the airport, and you will be collected by a somewhat ramshackle minivan, and the journey is somewhat bumpy. You need to realise that this is a relatively small resort for all inclusive with only 100 rooms, but it sits nicely in seven acres of lush tropical gardens on a two mile stretch of beautiful beach.
Try to book an Oceanfront Room, which is as inferred literally right on the beach. You will find it spacious and well equipped, with a huge bed, and the bathroom has one wall of glass which is rather fun, and a hammock on the balcony for those long leisurely hours with a book and a glass in hand, and your partner beside you singing in the wilderness!!
Reports indicate that the garden rooms are a lot smaller, and more subject to the noise of aircraft landing and taking off from the nearby airport.
The staff keep the room clean, and are totally unobtrusive, and you won't find a television or a mini bar, the lack of a TV is good, but a mini bar not so good.
All Inclusive Couples Resorts generally don't have a great reputation for their food, but here at the Rendezvous Resort you will find the food plentiful with a good variety. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner are generally taken at the Terrace Restaurant, buffet style, but it is possible to book fine a la Carte in the evenings at the Trysting Place, a small and very high quality restaurant, where you will eat some of the best food in the Caribbean.
In addition every afternoon there is ?teatime? where you can gorge on high quality tea, coffee, and sandwiches.
The best food of all is served at the beach BBQ.
There are a two or three of different bars at the Rendezvous Resort, and they all serve a great variety of drinks and cocktails, and brand names as well. Some of the cocktails are absolutely memorable if you can remember them afterwards. You will meet nice people in the bars and around the resort, and the good thing here is that whilst there is as many activities as you could ever want, and great enthusiasm from the staff and partakers, there is no real pressure on you to join in if you don't want to.
At the end of the day the Rendezvous Resort is a well above average Couples Resort for St Lucia, and you will find it difficult to find fault. The client'le is mainly British, and you can make friends or just enjoy each other's company, after all isn't that what a Couples Resort is for!
