Roller blinds are extremely versatile and can be used in any type of window. Roller Blinds are especially effective when used for large windows. For example if you have windows that go from the floor to the ceiling, then you should really opt for roller blinds. They are effective with this type of window as they are extremely effective at controlling the amount of light available in a room. Roll them down and you can block out the light, roll them up and you can let the light in.
It's that simple! You can even roll them just half way up and just let a little bit of light in. Whatever the mood in the room, quality made roller blinds can accommodate it.
Roller Blinds for Kitchens
When choosing your window d'cor for your kitchen it's important to stay functional and practical. You want to create a warm welcoming environment but you have to remember that a kitchen is a working space unlike a living room, so don't opt for flamboyant over-bearing designs. Kitchens are bursting with culinary activity so thick curtain fabrics can absorb cooking smells causing them to linger. In addition due to safety issues, you would need to ensure that your curtains are tied back when not in use. Do you really want to have the involvement of leaning over trying to close them every time? Your kitchen d'cor needs to cope with the wear and tear of real life. Roller Blinds are a great solution and are ideal in any kitchen by adding an air of efficiency within this busy working area. Simple in style and sleek in design, roller blinds will complement your kitchen whilst leaving window sills clear making cleaning of surfaces easier. This is important in a kitchen, as greasy surfaces are something we all want to avoid. Many kitchens are also restricted for space but you don't want to have to compromise on your interior design plans. Roller blinds can lift any room without using up vital space and you can choose from literally hundreds of fabrics and colours.
Roller Blinds for Bathrooms
Bathrooms, like kitchens are a busy place and although most bathroom windows have frosted or obscure glass to ensure privacy, most people want a little more than this alone. Roller Blinds are a great way to do this and providing there is suitable ventilation and can be an extremely cost effective option. Not only will roller blinds allow added security and privacy, the versatility of the many fabrics available allow for striking designs and colourful colours. This can help to lift plain white or pale coloured bathroom units giving the room a less clinical feel and bring warm to any bathroom.
Kids Bedroom Blinds
Kids bedrooms are an ever-changing space. As kids get older, their tastes change so when decorating the room you want a cost effective solution. Roller blinds are a great way to do this, and blackout roller blinds can help light sleepers by preventing light penetration.
Roller Blinds For Windows
There has been a recent recall of many children related products due to lead paint. But there are many products around your house that may cause injuries that you don’t even know about. Each year there are thousands of children with window related injuries that are admitted to emergency rooms. Fortunately these accidents are preventable with just a couple of easy safety measures.
The following are three of the most important safety devices you should use if you are concerned about your child's safety around windows.
(1) Safety Devices for Roller Blinds
Most roller blinds manufactured before 2001 may not meet the current child safety regulations because older roller blinds tend to have long cords that sometimes form a loop. A long cord, especially a looped one, is a danger to a child’s safety as children can easily get tangled up in the cord and strangle themselves. Some of the older roller blinds have cords without stoppers, which make them accessible to children. These horrible accidents usually occur to infants and toddlers. Infants who were placed near a window may end up strangling to death in their own cribs. Toddlers tend to die this way after climbing up to see out of a window, falling, and getting caught in the cords of the roller blinds. Fortunately strangulation by blind cord deaths are preventable. Since roller blinds purchased before 2001 pose the greatest strangulation risk, there are a couple of things you can do. You can purchase an upgrade kit that will include safety tassels and stoppers for your older roller blinds, or the best action you can take is to install new roller blinds that are made with child safety devices.
(2) Window Guards
Since window screens are not effective for preventing children from falling out of window, windows guards are one of the best solutions on the market today. Window guards can help prevent serious falls from windows as they act like a gate. Installed in front of the window, window guards are available in both horizontal and vertical bars. When looking for a window guard you will want to find one that has a release mechanism so that it can be fully opened in case of an emergency, like a fire. In order to prevent a child from squeezing through, the bars of the window guard should be a maximum of ten centimetres apart.
(3) Window Stops
A window stop might be a suitable safety device if you have windows that normally stay closed, as the window stop will prevent a window from opening more than ten centimetres. The only downside to using a window stop is that you will not be able to open the window fully, so if you are looking or a safety device that will allow you to have more ventilation you will want to go with the window guard option.
Ultimately window safety is the choice of the parent. If you are at all concerned with the safety of your child you may want to look into childproofing your windows and roller blinds.
