Christmas costs us all money, no doubtabout that, but it's really not a good thing to start the New Year in the red,so follow a few of these tips to save a little over the Christmas season andstart the New Year with a jingle in your pocket.

Many people start gift shopping as early as October,but if you have not planned so far ahead, then look for for your lovedones, and not just the most expensive gift you can find. If a friend or familymember has their heart set on a certain expensive item, consider clubbingtogether with another friend or family member to ease the burden of the cost.

Don't go crazy on decorating your home withnew decorations, rather use what you have and spruce it up with a few candles,or some fresh flowers. If you have kids, get them involved in makingdecorations, from popcorn strings to Christmas gift tags...kids can even makepretty stamped wrapping paper, and it adds that extra dimension of familyspirit to the Christmas season. Bring the family together to decorate the tree,to wrap gifts, and to help prepare the Christmas meal. If everyone chips in thefamily will have a great Christmas at very little expense to anyone.

But the best way to save is to compareprices and see where you can save a penny or a pound. Compare prices for everything, from giftprices to Christmas tree prices, from the Christmas turkey to your own homeinsurance. There are many items on special at this time of year, so there isreally no reason to splurge.
