My initial opinion of the Detour is that is has a soft, solid feel to it that provides a silky and steady putting base.



The new Scotty Cameron Detour provides the correct putter path for you swing. The head cover is a bright orange affair with a Detour marking showing a putting arc.

It really is a fantastic part of golfing science and metallurgy design which introduces the arc-shaped putting path into a mainstream putter.

This putter has a single bend in the shaft, the Detour 2 has a straight shaft. It has a relatively high MOI and stainless steel weights in both the toe and heel with an obvious T bar appearance.

The arched body is milled from 6061 T6 aluminium and has milled body pockets to lighten the mid-section of the putter, the stainless steel back weight triangulates weight at the corners of the putter.

The shaft comes in a variety of standard sizes (33, 34, 35 inches) and the club carries a list price of around the 300 USD mark.

I feel that this putter makes me feel in control the whole way through the swing but I suppose that the only way that you can find out whether this applies to you or not is to test the product for yourself. Your club shop is bound to have a demo for you to try out.
