Second Chance Checking Account

    View:
If you had financial problems in the past and are eligible for checking account anymore, take heart. There is such a thing as a "second chance" checking account. Having bad credit or a report to TeleCheck or to ChexSystems can keep you from having a checking account, certainly, but a second chance checking account can be the answer to your difficulties.

Information that brought you to your "no checking account" status usually stays with reporting agencies for five years or longer. However, you can obtain a second chance checking account. If financial difficulties have made you victim to a chain of events that make you no longer eligible for a checking account, read on.

Banks are beginning to realize that this is a problem, and so have begun to start "second chance checking accounts" for people who have had problems in the past. Look for a bank that offers this type of checking account and check to see if they charge a fee for this. Some banks will charge up to $300 to approve your checking account.

Nonetheless, second chance checking account is a real bank account. You can get them with checks and a demo card, as you can with most checking accounts. You will have the same benefits with a second chance checking account as you did with your previous account. You'll still have a routing number and account number for direct deposits, and the debit card will work at any ATM, as with your previous one. They'll also work as debit cards anywhere Visa or MasterCard (as applicable) are accepted.

If you opt to just get a debit card, you'll still have a voided check in your setup so that you can have paychecks deposited directly. You won't have to be verified through TeleCheck or ChexSystems. This is a regular debit card, too. It's not a prepaid card as you may have heard of in other situations.

If you are tired of paying fees to have your check cashed and buying money orders to pay your bills, this may be the option for you. Everyone needs a second chance. Today a checking account is essential, from having your checks direct deposited to paying bills; it is a convenience that most people take for granted. However, if you are one of the unfortunate people that have had a little financial difficulty and have been denied a checking account you realize the problems not having an account can cause.

Many people do a lot of banking online. This is impossible if you don't have a checking account. Many employers also require that you have a bank account so that they don't have to pay you with a paper check. This is not only easier for the payroll department, but it's also a way to eliminate many problems and expenses. Today, in short, you'll almost require a checking account. You can also open a savings account and have everything deposited there, but this means that you have to go to the bank to take money out.

What if you had the opportunity to start fresh with a second chance checking account? Thanks to many banking institutions realizing that this is not always the fault of the account holder and that many times people have problems that escalate out of control, they have decided to offer you a second chance.
Second Chance Checking Account
If you have had a troubled financial history, then you may be unable to get a checking account. However, all is not lost ? you can get second chance at opening another checking account. There are accounts which are called second chance checking accounts; these can give you a checking account again and put you on the path to getting a regular checking account in the future, even if you have been reported to ChexSystems or TeleCheck in the past.

The information given to Telecheck or ChexSystems will stay on their records for about five years, on average. A second chance checking account will give you an opportunity to establish yourself as fiscally responsible, even if you cannot open a regular checking account.

Banks know that there are a lot of people out there who cannot open a checking account but have the responsibility to manage their money responsibly enough to have a checking account ? this has led to many banks offering second chance checking accounts.

If you are someone who would be a good for a second chance checking account, then you can start by looking around at your local banks to see which of them provide these accounts. You should also evaluate the fees charged, if any ? some banks may charge as much as $300, but since there is plenty of competition, you might be able to get an account cheaper than this.

Despite these fees, a second chance checking account offers all of the same benefits of a regular checking account. There will be an account number and routing number so you can use direct deposit. You can generally also receive a MasterCard or Visa debit card which you can use at ATMs as well.

If all you really need is the debit card, then you can open a second chance checking account where there will be a voided check as part of the setup. You'll still be able to have a routing number of direct deposit, but you will not need to be verified via TeleCheck or ChexSystems. This is areal debit card, not a pre-paid card as you may have been told.

A second chance checking account can be a great option for you if you are tired of the hassle of having to pay your bills with cash instead of by check or automatically, or if you need to use money orders. Banks have begun to realize, of course, that everyone deserves a second chance, and you do, too. Most people take a checking account for granted, and don't realize that not having one can cause major hassles.

No checking account means no online banking; something which is almost a requirement now. Of course, many employers require accounts for direct deposit purposes. While you could have your paychecks direct deposited into a savings account, this means that you'll still have to withdraw funds or get money orders when you need to pay bills.

If second chance checking accounts sound like the solution for you, you'll be glad to know that the number of banks offering these accounts is growing. There are many who could use a fresh start ? if you could too, start looking for a second chance checking account today!
