Secrets To Lose Weight

A very common question dieters are asking their fitness trainers is this: How do we lose weight fast? Losing weight is not a very simple task. It involves certain sacrifices like having to give up on the foods you have loved for so long, especially if they were rich in fat and sugar, or having to give up the time you used to give being a "couch potato" and put those idle muscles to work. It takes a lot of self-determination and some "mind over matter". You should necessarily believe that it is possible and can be done.



Oftentimes, when you hear the word diet, you often associate it with starving yourself, taking in less food as possible. If that would be the case, how could your body function well? Your body needs a significant amount of energy it gets from the food you take in order to carry out its normal functions. This misconception about dieting often pushes dieters to reduce their food intake during the early phases of losing weight. By doing so, most of what is lost is fats and not calories.

You need to understand that the goal in weight loss is to lose unwanted calories and not fats. Fats are a source of energy needed by your body to function well. In order to be effective in this goal, you need to be conscious on the amount of calories you take in. You need to monitor them daily. This is the primary principle of dieting but sad to say that there are only a few people who are following this principle though a significant number is aware of this. It is important to note that the fewer calories you take in, the more pounds or kilograms you lose. Cutting down on food may rob the body from its daily dose of essential nutrients such as protein, vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals are important to normal metabolism. Proteins are the building blocks of your body. They are also essential to the body's main structure as well as the production of antibodies and helpful enzymes that your body needs. These nutrients are therefore needed in reasonable amounts in order for you to have high metabolism so that you will lose weight fast.

A few tips:

1. It is important for a dieter, in order to lose weight, to reduce calorie intake and substitute them with low fat foods. He or she may try eating fresh fruits and vegetables.

2. Dieting was never about starving or having to skip meals. Eat regularly but sparingly.

3. Diet and a sensible exercise always go together. You can never achieve proper weight loss if you lose one of these elements.

4. Set a goal and stick to it. Always think about that goal and keep yourself motivated to reach it. Stay focused and work hard for it.

The sacrifices you make today will surely reap its rewards later on. Your body may react in some way to the changes you decide for it to have. But always remember that you are moving towards a goal of a more healthy way of living.
Secrets To Lose Weight
Have you heard the recent hype in the news about helping kids lose weight and the incidence of childhood obesity and the risks that go with it. As usual, scare stories abound with calls for government intervention and/or large-scale social changes. But apart from the over-the-top reactions, there are some basic facts that remain.

In western countries the availability is great and there is little risk of starving unless your poor. At the same time, convenience foods, fast food establishments and snacks everywhere have made it all the more likely that many will consume too many calories.

Helping kids lose weight is a necessity. The reason is because with the popularity of computer and Internet activities, children (and teens) spend a larger percentage of time being inactive than in decades past. TV watching and talking on the phone, of course, have been popular for decades. But with the addition of the Internet, hours of physical activity per week has declined for many.

Because of this lack of activity children today are on average heavier than they were a few decades ago. They also tend to consume more foods high in complex sugars and fat, and less fiber, fruits and vegetables. The net effect is, for some, obesity.

When measuring obesity it is somewhat different for children than for adults, as a result of their rapidly changing bodies and metabolic rates that differ. Children often experience growth spurts that would skew any measurement that used BMI (Body Mass Index) primarily. Instead of using BMI alone as a starting point, BMI is combined with age and gender to create a more accurate picture.

An adult with a BMI of 30 or greater would be considered (borderline) obese. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) charts would designate a child as obese at the 95th percentile. The two are roughly equivalent, but it's necessary to look at the charts for a more careful breakdown.

Another important measurement is percentage of body fat and here again the numbers differ by sex. An obese boy would be identified as one whose body fat was 25% or more of total body weight. For girls the number is 32% of body fat as a percentage of total weight.

A major reason for the difference is simply that females naturally have a higher percentage of body fat their entire lives. For adult males the number is roughly 15% for a healthy, fit individual. But for women the number is around 27%.

In regards to helping kids lose weight they must be encouraged to use the combination of proper diet and regular exercise. This will usually involve some lifestyle changes. These are often easier to implement for younger children, and have the added advantage of establishing good habits that typically carry on into the teen years and beyond.

Helping kids lose weight is a must to maintaining good health when your young and it will be easier to maintain into adulthood.
