The idea of selling yourself, or promoting your business is scary. When you put yourself out there, you run the risk of people rejecting you or your business. And, you run the risk of people thinking negative thoughts toward you or your business.
The other thing is, it may not feel natural to actively promote your business. It may feel like you're being pushy, or intruding on someone.
It is possible to promote yourself without the fear of rejection, and without feeling like you're leaping on everyone that walks by. Here are three tips to help you promote yourself without fear.
1. Remember, you are here to serve the people that need you. That is why you were inspired to start your practice in the first place. There are clients waiting for you, you must let them know you are here, and you are available.
2. Not everyone is going to need your services, and not everyone will respond to your message and that's ok. But, by putting your message out there, you may reach someone that needs you through someone that may not.
3. There are non-invasive ways to promote yourself. Get involved in local or online networking groups. Start an e-zine that contains information that is of interest to your target market. Introduce your business to at least 100 people you know through a letter. Even if you don't think some of them would need your service, ask them to pass the letter on to someone who might.
When you make the leap to owning your own practice, you must tell people about it – if you build it, they may not necessarily come. Universe will rise up to support you in your effort, but you have to take the first steps. Begin your journey and see what doors open for you!
