Shes The Man Quotes
To a Baptist church? A Methodist congregation? Should you attend an Episcopal or Catholic sanctuary? Or perhaps you should join a parachurch or one of those huge mega-churches. They have great pastors, right?
Hey, just who are you following anyway?
When I was in college one of my professors said the Bible is full of errors. He even showed us a ?contradiction? in the book of Galatians. This was very upsetting, since I had been taught the Bible is God's Word and is accurate. Only later did I learn that this professor didn't even bother checking the original Greek Scriptures, where the text is precise and there is no contradiction. The college professor was a biased unbeliever, yet many students chose to ?follow? him, right into doubt and unbelief.
Jesus Christ says ?Follow ME.?
How do we follow Christ? Do we follow him by showing up in fancy buildings, singing in choirs, ringing bells or acting religious? Does Jesus teach us to do any of those things? Does he?
Do we follow Christ by protesting against social evils, running for political offices or engaging in creative activities to bless mankind? These may be good works to get involved with, but?
Is that how we follow Christ?
What does Christ himself tell us about following him?
Jesus says ?If you continue in my word, then you are truly my disciples.? (John 8:31)
Christ also says, ?Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.? (Matthew 4:4).
Jesus says we're to live by God's Word! In fact, he often reproved people for not following the Scriptures (Mark 2:25; 12:24; Matthew 21:16; etc.) Jesus says we are to obey his words and live by every word of the Scriptures.
That's how we follow Christ!
We don't follow Christ when we follow man-made traditions and practices. In fact?
God repeatedly forbids us to ?add to? His words (Deuteronomy 4:2; Revelation 22:18). Yet, today religious men have added their own denominational doctrines and practices. A famous preacher in one of his books even brags about his church and denomination more than 500 times! The Bible says we should not boast about men (1 Corinthians 3:21).
So, where do we go for spiritual truth? Who are we to follow?
Let's grab our Bibles, live by God's words, and listen to?
