Signs Of Ovarian Cancer

    View:
A woman's chances of survival are strong if the ovarian cancer is caught early, but approximately 75% of women are diagnosed after it has already spread beyond the ovaries, and this is when survival rates drop to only around 20 or 30 percent.

To learn more about symptoms and signs of ovarian cancer that you should watch out for, read on.

Bloating

Constant and persistent bloating is often a clear indicator of ovarian cancer, especially if it's a significant change in a patient's bloating habits. So, if you've noticed an increase in how much and how often you're bloating, talk to you doctor.

Pelvic and Stomach Discomfort

Chronic pelvis and stomach pain along with constipation and digestion problems are more common in women diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Loss of Appetite and Decreased Weight

Like many cancer patients, one of the clearest ovarian cancer warning signs is a significantly decreased appetite, trouble eating and, subsequently, significant weight loss. Patients who often feel full after eating just a little bit of food or who have recently developed trouble eating should consult a doctor.

Urinary Problems

Urinary incontinence and a frequent or urgent need to urinate are both common symptoms of ovarian cancer. Patients often compare these symptoms and warning signs to a painless urinary tract infection (UTI). That is, the increased need to urinate but without the burning or pain during urination often associated with a UTI.

Fatigue and Pain

Unfortunately, the fatigue and back pain experienced by many patients with ovarian cancer is similar to pre-menstrual symptoms experienced by many women without the disease. The systems are generalized and not specific enough, but they can be helpful when diagnosing the problem.

One clear indicator is if the symptoms are persistent and almost daily rather than restricted to a specific period. However, other symptoms should be present before the patient is screened for cancer.

Genealogy

If you know that your family has a history of ovarian cancer, it's important to tell your doctor and be screened or evaluated on an ongoing basis. Essentially, if one immediate family member or two members of your extended family have been diagnosed with the disease, then it could be a clear warning sign and an indicator that you need to watch out for possible symptoms.

The good news is that even early stage ovarian cancer can produce many of these warning signs, and early detection often results in a stronger prognosis. So, watch your body, be aware of changes and don't be afraid to consult with your physician.

Given the cost and time associated with a medical visit, many people simply do not want to bother with an appointment and would rather assume that warning indicators of a potential problem are insignificant. This is a dangerous assumption, especially if you are experiencing multiple symptoms. Go ahead and schedule the visit just to be sure.
Signs Of Ovarian Cancer
Cysts are in essence sacs filled with fluid that take the appearance of blisters. Women within the age range of reproduction will often have cysts. The cysts look like two growths the size of almonds on either side of the uterus. Nevertheless some abnormal cysts such as cystadenoma cysts, endometrinoma cysts and dermoid cysts also occur because of a lack of equilibrium of estrogen and progesterone, two of the female hormones. In most cases they do no damage and go away of their own accord. There are many indications of ovarian cysts that can be found early if you know what to search for.

For many women, ovarian cysts do not result in any specific symptoms. Inactive tumors will probably not cause any symptoms. This is certainly the case when the cyst is very small. Sometimes the tumors that generate particular hormones can lead to specific symptoms. Bleeding even after menopause may start for women with a feminizing tumor. Girls with ovarian cysts who are still too young for puberty may start bleeding early and grow breasts and body hair. In some cases cysts will grow and bring on abdominal bloating as they become bigger. A woman in this case will go to the toilet often because of the additional pressure on the bladder and the bowels. In this case such a crucial indication of ovarian cysts must not be neglected. Other indications include pain during intercourse. A further frequent sign of ovarian cysts is when periods are heavy or irregular.

If a woman has an active masculine tumor, then periods may stop and she may begin to develop masculine features such as deepening of the voice, increased size of the clitoris and facial hair. It is possible for a woman to live with a cyst for many years without knowing it. However if the cyst has grown on a stem and the stem becomes twisted, this may also produce serious pain, an increase in the rate of heartbeat and vomiting. The name for this critical condition is torsion and it requires immediate action. If a cyst ruptures, the effects on a patient will depend on what the cyst contained, as well as any degree of bleeding or infection. A cyst that ruptures typically causes some pain but not necessarily as much as with torsion. If you experience an abnormal swelling of your abdomen then be sure to consult a doctor or a clinic. Because of the absence of symptoms in the cases of many ovarian cysts, they are often only discovered during ultrasound scans or routine checkups being performed for other reasons.

In order to really achieve long-term alleviation from ovarian cysts and their symptoms only the holistic method is workable. Conventional medicine does not work well in treating ovarian cysts because it only brings relief from the painful symptoms. There are several drugs that doctors can prescribe when face with ovarian cysts, although they do not bring any long-term solution to the problem. Many of them also cause disagreeable secondary effects.

The classic sign of torsion in an ovarian cyst is severe pain in the abdomen together with nausea and fever. Another frequent sign of ovarian cysts is menstrual cramps commonly known as period pains, or by its medical description of dysmenorrhea. Up to a certain level, period pain may be common, but some patients tolerate a high level of pain believing it to be normal. Serious menstrual cramps may indicate other problems including those of ovarian cysts. No single sign of ovarian cysts exists for reliably diagnosing ovarian cysts. In some cases, there is no symptom at all. In other cases the symptoms manifest themselves as ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory diseases and endometriosis. Other unrelated complaints such as appendicitis and diverticulitis have also been seen to generate symptoms and indications that resemble those of an ovarian cyst. However, it is essential to watch out for any of the above.

In the early stages, ovarian cysts sufferers indicate a feeble pain or a sense of fullness. The presence of ovarian cysts may also be indicated by pain when having intercourse. Sharp pains when pressure is put on the bowels or during bowel movements are also suspect. In addition, signs such as tenderness of the breasts, nausea and vomiting, often taken to be signs of pregnancy, may be signs of ovarian cysts. An indication of ovarian cysts is a persistent dull intermittent pain spreading from the lower back towards the thighs, as is a sharp pain in the pelvis just before the period begins or just before it finishes. A sensation of a heavy or full abdomen and vomiting and fever may also be linked to ovarian cysts. These signs may be abundant in some cases and non-existent in others. The best thing is to seek advice from a certified gynecologist if you perceive any of the above symptoms.

In order to remedy and prevent future ovarian cysts, a smarter choice is a holistic treatment that allows for the cure and elimination of ovarian cysts permanently. Even if several options of treating or managing ovarian cysts are available, some of these only target the diminution of the painful symptoms rather than resolving the underlying disease. A holistic solution is also the quickest and safest way to rid yourself of ovarian cyst infection today and for the future.
