Of course, every kitchen has three focal points: the refrigerator, the stove, and the sink. They're the mecca of your kitchen, where everyone simply gravitates to and where every activity revolves. Which is why, the last step towards achieving that really organised and yet clutteredly lovely kitchen is taking care of them.



Take Care of Your Fridge

Since different parts of your refrigerator operate at different temperatures, it's wise to place foods inside accordingly. In older style refrigerators, the upper shelves will often be slightly colder than the lower shelves. In appliances that are more modern the temperature will be relatively uniform throughout.

Designate certain shelves in your refrigerator for specific items. For example, the top shelf is for beverages, your bottom shelf for leftover food and meat if you do not have meat storage units. Always separate raw foods from cooked foods and make sure that no juices drip or run onto other foods and contaminate anything within the fridge.

Place produce in the drawers, and place condiments in the door of the refrigerator. Delegate one day of the week to tossing out old foods. Consider cleaning out your refrigerator on the same day you go to the grocery store. Since you will be adding new items in your refrigerator, it is a great time to toss out old food to make space.

It's okay to have your refrigerator run on the least power possible. Finally, you'll need to defrost your fridge every now and then, twice a week ideally, or once a month. Not only do you get to clear out spoiled or forgotten food inside, you also get to save up on electric bills too since it will boost your fridge's performance when you put it back on. Too much ice can actualy increase temperature, as it is a good insulator, so get those extra ice off.

Clear out your sink. No matter what is under your sink, if you use it let it stay – if you don’t then just get rid of it. If it’s cleaning supplies, look and see what you have used and never used and what is just dried out and old. Just be remorseless throw it all out or pass it on to someone who might use the supplies you don’t. Organise your cabinets in the way that is best suited to you—what you use the most, what’s used less in the rear.

Have a Great Stove

Always wipe clean your stove after cooking so that grime don't build up and, worse, invite unwelcome critters. If you're concerned about the wall behind your stove getting all marred up by food and oil splatters, as well as the heat, have it painted with a glossy. Or you may install a stainless steel backsplash just for that purpose. Finally, if you're using a gas stove, make sure the gas tank valve is well-fitted and that the hose is leak-proof. After all, you don't want just an organised kitchen, but a safe one as well.
