To be included in the list of most visited places is such a great achievement for a country like Spain. It only means that Spain is one of the most interesting and most beautiful travelers destinations in the globe. If you're wondering why Spain achieved this feat, here are my thoughts about it. Spain has various tourist destinations that are truly great and amazing to see. For instance, if you're looking for stunning beaches, you can drop by in the areas like Segovia, Andalusia, Toledo, and Salamanca. There are also other beautiful beaches in other areas of Spain like Rias Baixas, Mallorca, Salou, Valencia, Benidorm, Catalonia, Canary Islands, The Cantabrico, and Balearic Islands. But if you are the type of person who appreciates interesting destinations, Barcelona and Madrid are your perfect choices. You can also visit other interesting locations like Pontevedra and Vigo in Galicia, Sevilla, Cordoba, and Granada. Aside from these amazing destinations, Spain is also famous for its palatable cuisine.
If there is one thing sure about a Spanish cuisine, that would be no room or reason for one to be hungry. Why? Because various lines of restaurants, food market, and vendors are available everywhere in Spain's inner cities. Also, what makes a Spanish cuisine distinguished is the freshness, availability, and quality of meals and dishes. Being adventurous is also important if you are exploring the different variations of Spanish cuisine. Trying out the dishes that you haven't eaten yet will surely widen your knowledge in Spanish cuisine. Also, when you are seated in a restaurant, it is a must to observe what other people are ordering, so the next time you dine out again, you now know what next dishes to order.
The delicious Jamon Serrano, also called as the dry-cured Spanish ham, of Spain is a familiar product in any food market and establishment around the world. Like the Italain prosciutto, Jamon Serrano is usually served raw and in thin slices or pieces. Since Spain is known as the pioneer in dried ham production, it is best to taste the Jamon Serrano hams in the dining and food establishments of Spain. When you go for a vacation, never forget to order or ask for a dish with Serrano ham if ever you will dine in Spain's finest restaurants and diners.
When I am asked why I want to live in Spain, I can instantly name a lot of good reasons. Among the notable reasons that I can explain are Spain's language, health diet, diverse leisure activities, and an artistic culture. I have always known that Spain's artistic culture has a lot more to offer than its traditional bullfights, dance, and music. It has been and will always be one one of the cultural icons of Europe.
Spanish Culture And Language
The world has also been influenced by the culture by the people in Spanish speaking countries through their culture in many ways. You can see this influence from the Spanish language in dance, art, poetry, as well as dance, architecture and food.
The culture of Spain and it's basis is very interesting and colorful. The origins of the culture of Spain can be found in the land which is in the south western part of Europe all the way across the Mediterranean to Africa in the Iberian peninsula.
Over the centuries, the cradle of the Spanish culture, the Iberian peninsula, was invaded, conquered and influenced by other many different peoples, which included the greeks, the Basque and other pre-Latin cultures. During the late 5th century AD, some Germanic influences were introduced to the area as a result of an invasion of the area by the Visigoths, plus they added some German words to the Spanish language. In addition, the Visigoths introduced some elements of architecture, which over the centuries, developed into the well-known forms of Gothic architecture which is so commonly seen in buildings throughout Hispanic cultures.
Even the Moorish culture influenced Spain during the 8th century AD, because of the conquest of the area by the Muslims. Moorish artistic influences can readily be seen throughout the country, and one other interesting contribution from the Moorish culture are the beautifully planned gardens. An Islamic garden generally includes four elements which make them unique and beautiful: shade, water, color variety, fragrance, and sound. The Spanish vocabulary was again enhanced from this period with numerous Arabic words, all of which begin with the "al" prefix.
The early part of the 11th century, brought considerable influence on the culture from pilgrims of French origin and ecclesiastics who traveled through Spain. This friendly interaction resulted in an appreciable influx of French words and phrases, as well as touches of cuisine, spiritual traditions and art.
Even the Italians shaped and influenced the culture with elements of their language and society in the 15th and 16th century. This came about because the influences of the Aragonese which dominated Italy and because of the huge popularity of Italian poetry in Spain, during this period. This influenced the Spanish language again with additional words to the vocabulary, including Spanish verbs. In addition, art, cuisine, music and thought were impacted by Italy at this time.
As you can see, over the centuries, the Spanish culture has evolved tremendously and in many ways is a mixture of many of the greatest artists, writers, musicians, architects, poets and other creators of their day. When people decide to learn to speak Spanish, they also are being given the opportunity to learn much more about their own cultural contributions to the world.
