It started out as a snap--at the starting of the division, everyone knew that the New England Patriots would most likely win the Super Bowl. Yes, the Philadelphia Eagles may be a peril, but they get to the Playoff game and give up. But something different happened this year...
The Eagles really made it to the Super Bowl. For Eagles admirers, this was ultimately an upgrade. After years of struggling, they finally arrived at their aspiration of getting to the Super Bowl. If you make a home anywhere close to Philadelphia, you would agree that fan-damonium amplified to a new level. Everywhere you look, all you could comtemplate was Eagles merchandise. Fans embellished their cars to the nines with Eagles license plates, tire covers, mud flaps, flags--you name it. Fans even embellished their residence with NFL Merchandise and humongous inflated Donovan McNabb lawn ornaments.
Patriots fans did the same. They got prepared for the big game in style, because in their core, they knew the Patriots would overcome. For their Super Bowl gathering, they located New England Patriots snack helmets, Patriots helmet plaques, and flags. Spectators even dressed up their kin in youth uniforms of their favorite team.
But, wait! There were more contenders in the dash to the Super Bowl. The Pittsburgh Steelers had an astronomical season with their new and talented quarterback. Patriots fans understood that they would have to overtake the Steelers in the Super Bowl, but they dropped out in the Championship match. This was, as prepared, a major let down for the Steelers devotees. They are hard core devotees, and are devoted NFL memorabilia collectors. They await patiently for their team to rise once again, but in the meantime, they show their Steelers hard hats with dignity.
The other team that was a direct peril was the Atlanta Falcons. Not only did they have awesome defense, but they had excellent receivers to take them to first place. No one supposed the Falcons to go as far as they did, even their devotees. As the NFC Championship game drew nearer, Falcons fans did anything and everything they could to boost their team. They snapped up a NFL merchandise they could afford and discovered football fan faces to use rather of messy paint to cheer on their team. They made anything with the Falcons name or team logo into a treasured sports collectible. But, the Falcons fell in the Championship match.
When it came down to the two best teams in the NFL, the fans cheered and the football flew but only one team could take it all. Patriots fans left the game happy, but the Eagles fans were plotting their revenge for the next season. In the end, the players in the NFL are important, but the fans are what carry the power and support for their team. Fans show their support in many ways, but most treasure their NFL Sports Memorabilia above all.
Sports Memorabilia For Sale
The first step in selling any sports memorabilia for that matter would be to have a qualified appraiser appraise the value of your memorabilia especially if you are unsure of its value or unaware of how the market is actually pricing such. You can ask for an opinion at your local sports shop selling cards for instance but you can seek for other opinions from other collectors or from people who have extensive experience in the memorabilia business and industry. You can find on collector's magazines appraisers or authenticators posting their services for which you will have to pay for.
In selling your sports memorabilia, a local dealer may be interested in your collection or you can sell it yourself on the internet by lots or one at a time. When selling items to a dealer expect to obtain usually half of the wholesale price that you may find posted on price guides. If you have high ticket or high quality items you can get the best return for your investment if you take them to an auction house.
Any documentation regarding your memorabilia would be very helpful to enable you to get the best price for your memorabilia. For instance, if you have a game used jersey of Michael Jordan that has been autographed would be worth something but being able to show a picture of you with Michael Jordan handing the jersey to you or signing it would be plus points.
When it comes to memorabilia or items related to a particular player, prices vary every month and every year. Of course, it is a wise investment to invest on memorabilia and collectibles on hall of famers and retired athletes who won't have any more game score slumps to affect the status that they earned themselves in their field of sports. Though it is not always true that older is always better when it comes to the hobby of collecting, it is a good rule of thumb to follow when collecting sports memorabilia. Of course, the rarer the item, the more valuable it is.
All categories of sports have memorabilia and collectibles but the most popular and the one that dominates would be baseball.
