Start A Tutoring Business

    View:
Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could walk into your office or classroom and tell your boss that you only want to work certain hours, or come in on certain days, or maybe not even come in at all and work from home instead? Imagine picking and choosing the co-workers or students that you deal with or demand a specific salary for your efforts? Wouldn't it be great to know that your efforts actually do make an impact on someone and that you are appreciated for what you do?

This sounds like an ideal situation, but one that is a fantasy. However, it can be a reality if you open your own tutoring business.

Running your own tutoring business, whether a traditional one or an online one, allows you to either supplement your regular income or even replace your income, depending on how many hours you plan to tutor. Consider tutoring for just three hours a day for five days a week at $30 an hour. This would allow you to earn $450 a week. Multiply this by four weeks and your additional monthly income would increase by $1800! Multiply this by 12 months and your yearly salary would be increased by $21,600! Remember, that this only involves tutoring 15 hours a week at a rate of $30 an hour. Increase the number of hours you tutor or the rate you charge an hour and you can easily make more money.

You will also have the freedom to work when you want to. For instance, if you are busy with your family on Mondays and would rather not meet with students, then you simply tell your clients you are not available to tutor then. You are free to make and alter your own schedule and tutor as many hours or as few hours as you would like. For instance, some tutors are parents who don't start tutoring until the evening hours after they put their children to bed. Other tutors are college students who prefer to meet with clients throughout the day so they have their evenings free. Some tutors are teachers who can't meet with their clients until after the school day is over while home-schoolers find that they can spend at least an hour or two each day working with other home-schooled students. For possibly the first time in your life, your work schedule would be extremely flexible and it would be completely up to you to decide when you work.

Another benefit of running your own tutoring business is that you can pick and choose who you want to work with. Classroom teachers don't have a choice, they must deal with the students that were assigned to their class for the entire year. As the head of your own tutoring business, you have the right to select your clients. A simple interview prior to the first session with a student will allow you to gather enough information to decide whether or not you would like to take this client on permanently. You will be your own boss and you can decide not only when you want to work, but who you will work with.

One of the most rewarding reasons that people tutor is that they enjoy teaching and passing their knowledge on to young people. You can make a positive impact in the life of a student and be responsible for helping them through a difficult period in their life. Often times, children do poorly in school and fall through the cracks just because they are not receiving the one-on-one attention that they need. You can be their hero, the one that helps them finally understand concepts that they struggle with, the one that builds their confidence and self-esteem, and the one that gets them excited about school.

Opening your own tutoring business is not a complicated or overwhelming process. There are a great deal of resources out there to help you through the process. For starters, you can visit the following website www.tutorfi.com/freereport.asp After taking the initial steps such as printing business cards, creating fliers, contacting schools, and deciding on what your payment schedules will be, you can begin accepting clients and earning a supplementary income. Soon, word of mouth will spread and your advertising efforts will start steering more potential clients your way and your business will begin to blossom. Why wait? Become your own boss today and make a difference in the life of a child.
Start A Tutoring Business
Very little money is required to start a home tutoring business. This is why tutoring is one of the best home based businesses available and the most profitable. There is almost no start up cost and you need very little training beyond a traditional education you get in high school. Of course higher education helps but is simply not necessary to succeed at tutoring. This is really a great option for making extra money for stay at home parents who want to stay home but would like a little bit more money in their pockets each week. Tutoring offers a schedule which is extremely flexible and also you need only to spend a few hours a day to make a profit. A s tutor expect to make between 20 and 100 dollars per session. The price usually varies with your experience, and education as well as the subject matter you are teaching and the challenges the student has. A special education tutor will make more money than a traditional tutor.

Remember tutors have the ability to work out of their homes, travel to the students home, or work out of the local library. If you start a home tutoring business you will have the freedom to choose exactly what you want to teach, who you want to teach, and how you want to teach it. Below are a couple of points to ponder before jumping head first in the the tutoring business. Good luck and teach on!

Funds! You can basically start a home tutoring business for about $20 bucks. My advice is to spend it on supplies at the local dollar store. Stock up and pencils, paper, and rewards.

Pricing! Rates vary and after meeting the client you will know what they are willing to pay and what they can afford. Adjust your rates to fit the clients needs and your own needs. Remember you time is worth money and do not be afraid to at least ask for what you would like and the bargain to a price which is compromise for both parties. As a rule services in a bit city are going to run more money then in a small town. Also, the more services your provide the more money you should get paid.

Sell yourself! Remember if you want to start a home tutoring business you need to make sure you get your name out there. If you want people to come and use your services you have to let people know that you are a tutor. People usually like some type of certification. Usually your local community college or adult education programs will offer a certification program for tutors or substitute teachers. This is a great way to show you have the right education to start a home tutoring business.
