Starting A Business With
There is definitely profit potential in the buying and selling of wholesale knives. After all, many retail stores mark up the wholesale knives they purchase by as much as two-hundred or even three-hundred percent. That means when you go to a retail store and pay twenty dollars for a knife, it's likely that the store only paid five dollars for it.
Since retailers resell wholesale knives to the public at such a high markup, you can sell your wholesale knives at a ?discount? while still pulling in a profit. For instance, let's say your wholesale supplier sells a sixteen-function camping knife for less than two dollars. The retail store sells that same exact knife for $9.95. You could sell that very same knife for $4.95, market it as being on sale for fifty-percent less than retail and still more than double your money on each knife you sell.
To see exactly which wholesale knives you should offer for sale, you can look at the eBay marketplace to see what other sellers knives are going for. For instance, there are 16-function camper knives that are selling for more than three dollars plus a three-dollar shipping charge on eBay. You can get these wholesale knives from a wholesale supplier for just over $1.50. That means you can make a profit of $1.50 on the purchase price of each knife you sell Since shipping such an item only costs about a dollar, the seller is also profiting $2 on shipping charges. That means for each knife that sells, the seller makes more than three dollars. That's more than a 200-percent markup.
While you may not make a huge profit on each knife you sell, the goal is to sell as many wholesale knives as possible. You'll make up for the low per-item profit by selling a large volume of wholesale knives. After all, a three-dollar profit may be nothing to jump up and down over, but if you do that one-hundred times over during the course of the week, that's an extra three-hundred dollars of profit on just one of your products.
Wholesale knives are definitely a lucrative opportunity and there is plenty of room for markup. You can usually charge double for what you pay for your wholesale knives and you'll still be able to sell the knives for well below what most retail establishments offer them for. This equates to a win-win situation for everyone. The wholesale supplier gains a regular customer (you), your buyers get quality knives for a fraction of what they'd pay in the store, and you make a profit on each wholesale knife you sell. What more could you ask for?
