Daytime makeup is simple, elegant, and polished. It looks natural and fresh. Achieving a perfect daytime look is easier than you might think. No more excuses such as âI donât have time.â You are worth a few minutes!
Steps for achieving a Daytime Lookâ¦â¦â¦â¦
.It is important to remember that a polished face begins with proper cleansing. Before applying any cosmetics, wash the face with appropriate cleanser for your skin type. Follow with a toner to restore the ph balance, a daily moisturizer including a moisturizer for the lips.
.Correct under-eye circles if necessary. If you have relatively flawless skin, you may be able to correct under eye circles with foundation.
.Begin your daytime look with a foundation suitable for your needs. Use a sheer foundation for less coverage, a liquid foundation for more coverage, and a cream foundation for optimal coverage. The type of coverage may depend upon the imperfections in your skin. Apply the foundation using a combing technique. This means begin in the middle of the face and move outward for each side, remembering the chin and forehead. This will lessen the line of demarcation so often found at the jaw. The foundation should blend perfectly as if it is not even there. Its purpose is to even out the tones caused by aging, blemishes or skin conditions, or the sun.
.If your foundation does not have a matte finish, you can apply translucent powder to set the finish.
.Groom the brows and fill in gaps with brow powder or cream. This is a very important step. The brows frame the face. They are a key role in correcting face shapes.
.Choose a simple color palette. Natural harmony, or using the colors present in your own skin tone, will give you a soft, sophisticated look. Choosing a palette of chromatic harmony, colors opposite of your natural tones, will give you a chic, elegant daytime look.
.Apply eye shadow and liner. Remember that fluorescent lights will alter the pigmentation in shadows containing blue. It is best to use natural colors such as brown, coral, earthy tones, or steel for daytime. Leave the highly pigmented shadows for evening. Choose a dark brown liner. Black liners may be too harsh for daytime. The goal when lining the eyes for daytime is to thicken the lashes. Keep the line simple and not harsh.
.Apply dark brown mascara. Save the black for the evening. Wiggle the wand at the roots and move upward to avoid clumping.
.Apply rouge to the apples of the cheeks giving a fresh look.
.Choose a lip liner and lip stick in a shade appropriate for day. Neutrals, coral, blushes are best. Add gloss.
.One of the last steps in daytime makeup is to illuminate the face. Illuminators brighten facial zones giving attention to certain features. Illuminate the area above the cheekbones to highlight the cheeks.
.The final result is a clean elegant look as seen below. Notice the square jaw and the peaks of the brows. The peaks help to balance the face. The makeup is soft and natural. Perfect for daytime!
