Think carefully about this question now. When you are marketing a new product or service what kind of spin do you put on it? Are your claims even marginally close to reality or do you have to put a “results not typical” disclaimer in 3 point font at the very bottom of the page where no one is likely to see it?

There is nothing wrong with hype, just keep it within reason. Do not try to use excessive hype to close a quick sale. If your product is overhyped and the claims do not jive with reality that quick sale will probably just turn into a refund and all of your work will have been a waste. The vast majority of buyers will not make a purchasing decision the first time they see your pitch page. You have to find ways to get your message in front of them more than once.

This is where the problem with telling lies or overhyping your message really comes in. If you come off as a crooked used car salesmen there is ZERO chance of that consumer coming back to see your pitch again or any pitch that you will ever make in the future.

So go ahead and use hype, but stay honest.

1. Do not be lazy, Do the Tests:

I hate to break this to you, but you cannot just bring a new campaign live and walk away from it. Affiliate marketing is not the passive business many people want you to think it is. It can become a passive income stream, but initially you have to test everything for results, retool your marketing efforts and landing pages and then test again. You keep doing this until your campaign is getting the results you want from it.

2. One Article Per Month Is Not Enough:

Article marketing is a phenomenal way to drive traffic to your web pages, but a lot of affiliate marketers do not take is seriously enough. If you are only writing a couple articles a month you are really just wasting your time. Successful article marketing involves writing the right mix of quality articles in high enough numbers to get them in front of as many viewers as possible.

3. That Product Might Be Too Popular:

Popular products can be nice if you are able to get on the bandwagon right when they are released, however, if a product is too popular the competition is fierce. This greatly diminishes the chances of a web surfer stopping at your web page and actually converting to a paying customer. It is more likely that your website will be one of 3 or 4 that the consumer will visit before they land on the fifth and decide to make the purchase. Basically you will be pre-selling the product for your competition. Focus on products that are lesser known or in smaller niches and you will eliminate this problem completely.

4. Do Not Neglect the List:

As I mentioned above the vast majority of consumers will not purchase the product you are marketing the first time they see it. That is why it is crucial you create a newsletter and capture the email addresses of your sites visitors. Not doing this is the same as giving your prospects to the next website they come across promoting the same product.
