Boxes are ideal for storing all kinds of things, and specially made storage boxes make the job so much easier. These are the perfect solution for tidy storage at home and in shops, offices, stockrooms, factories and garages. In such boxes, items of every imaginable type, size and shape can be kept clean, dry, and away from damaging sunlight.
If you're moving house or office, you'll need a temporary type of storage box. You can usually rent these from the removal firm. The removal company will deliver the boxes to you a week or so before you move. After the move is complete, they will take the boxes away in their removal van. If you need a more permanent storage system, you can buy a wide range of storage boxes online. Here, the website will show you a range of containers with their dimensions and prices. The company will usually take payment online or over the phone and deliver your boxes to you within two to three days. To make things more convenient for you, some firms will deliver your boxes at weekends.
Whether of the temporary or more permanent archive type, storage boxes come in standard sizes, which helps when placing them in vehicles and on shelves in an orderly way. Not all of these boxes are stackable. But if you have the stackable kind, their standard sizes helps when stacking one box on top of another. Because of the different uses to which they are put, storage boxes are available in different designs and materials.
The simplest storage boxes are for temporary use, like when moving house or office. These are made of cardboard in two pieces, box and lid. They are cheap and light and are not really designed for long-term archive storage or for stacking one box on top of another. They come flat-packed to save space and for ease of transportation. They are easy to assemble, and often have instructions printed on them. After use they can be taken apart and re-folded into flat form again for re-use.
Archive storage boxes are usually made stronger. They are often constructed from a kind of cardboard that is resilient, and water resistant. Like the lighter version, archive storage boxes also have lids. But the box and lid come ready-assembled and are not foldable down into a flat-pack. They also usually have a slot at the front for sliding a label into. Sometimes these slots are made of metal. Because these boxes are quite tough, they can be safely stacked on top of eachother. Such boxes are usually cardboard-coloured but are also available in other colours like black. These can look quite smart and are often seen in trendy offices, lined up against the walls.
Plastic is another material that is commonly used for storage boxes and their lids. The lids can be separate pieces or hinged and connected to the box itself. Storage boxes made from translucent plastic enable you to see inside the box, so you don't have to actually open a load of boxes or read their labels to find something. Plastic Plastic storage boxes have the additional advantage that they are tough enough to stack on top of eachother, which makes storage more convenient.

Moving house can be one of the most stressful things you ever do in life. What with the paper work, dealing with solicitors and trying to organize and pack all your things ahead of the big moving day, your dream move can soon turn in to a nightmare. This is the scenario that someone I know found himself in recently.
Everything had been going so well. After deciding they wanted to move house, my friend and his wife had quickly found a beautiful new home that they simply could not resist. They made an offer and, after a little negotiation, struck a deal with the owner, who like them wanted a quick move. Then the solicitors got involved. Before they knew it the move had got bogged down in a mountain of paper work, and worse was to come when a huge chunk of it went missing in the mail during a postal strike.
This added weeks to their moving date and in the end, having agreed a quick sale of their current home, they were faced with the nightmare situation of being made homeless. This was an incredibly stressful time, as I am sure anyone can appreciate, but the one thing that made their life easier was storage boxes.
Organizing and packing has never been the forte of my friend or his wife, and what with all the stress they had somewhat neglected this aspect of the move. With only 24 hours to go before they were due to move out, they had not even had time to find any boxes to pack things in. Luckily, my friend's wife's mother turned up with a van full of storage boxes that she had used when she had moved house a couple of months earlier (mums always know best!). It was a massive weight off their shoulders.
The last time they moved house ? a good 10 years ago ? they had used regular cardboard boxes to store all their things in. They were useless. Most of them either collapsed because they were not strong enough to carry the weight we put in them, or disintegrated when it started raining. With this memory in mind, they were dreading the whole box-packing problem.
Thankfully, with storage boxes there was no such drama. The storage boxes that my friend's wife's mum brought round were large and made of plastic. They were able to fit much more stuff in them than they could with a regular cardboard box because they were just so much stronger. The other great advantage of these plastic storage boxes was that they were partially transparent ? enough for them to be able to tell what was inside them anyway. This saved them loads of time because they did not have to bother labeling the boxes.
All in all the storage boxes made a very stressful experience much easier. And best of all their mother-in-law had another surprise in store. Her neighbour had kindly agreed to let them use her double garage to store all their things in while they waited for the move to go through. So, with them tucked up safely in the spare room and their things packed away in storage boxes in the garage next door, they at least managed to avoid any more sleepless nights ? despite being homeless.it.
