It's not surprise really, but experts are predicting a busier than normal hurricane season for the Atlantic. Because of the predictions, some travelers are shying away from the Atlantic destinations. In an effort to curb concerns, some of the online travel companies are stepping up to guarantee a sunny vacation.



Priceline is the latest company to join the bandwagon. The "Sunshine Guarantee" is not just good for the coastal areas. It covers packages for over 100 destinations in the United States, Caribbean, Canada and Europe. The package lengths vary from three days to eight days.

The guarantee works like this: if it rains for at least one half an inch a day on half or more of the days in your vacation package then the company refunds airfare, hotel, rental car and any purchased tours or attractions. The only hitch might be that the rain totals are taken at the airport and not the hotel and it only covers travel during the peak hurricane season (between July 1 and Sept 7).

Despite the limits of the "Sunshine Guarantee" it is likely to encourage more travelers to book a trip that they might otherwise have skipped. It's comforting to know that is something does go wrong then there is an entire company that is willing to help make it better.

To take advantage of the guarantee through Priceline you have to book 12 days in advance. Check with the other services to see if they might be willing to meet the guarantee (or even beat it). Competition for vacation travelers is intense and you may be able to work out a deal with any company that you choose to book through.

Travel expenses are increasing and most people are doing all they can to insure that they get the most for each and every dollar spent. The travel industry is working hard to earn those dollars so be sure to take advantage of discounts, guarantees and other deals.
