Supplements such as thryoid boosters, metabolism enhancers, carb / starch blockers, hmb, fat burners, fiber supplements, and others are flying off the shelves, being bought by those desperately trying to find something, anything, that will help them get their weight loss / fat burning gears rolling.
Well, if millions and millions of dollars are being spent on all of these products, then why aren't we seeing leaner and more defined people in the gyms or walking on the streets?
If these supplements really worked liked they're supposed to, why are the individuals that buy and use them not looking any different in the mirror?
They still aren't gaining losing any weight!
Let me ask you a question.
If you are spending anywhere from $30.00 to $200.00 a month, shouldn't you expect to visually see an drop in body fat, week to week, month to month?
Take a real good look at prisoners. These guys don't use any supplements whatsoever.
The food they eat is "high school cafeteria"-like.
Yet, some of the most massive, most muscular, strongest individuals are prisoners.
As a matter of fact, the typical weight lifting prisoner gains more toned and defined than your average gym member that stuffs themselves with all kinds of supplements!
(Think about that for a minute)
It seems that most individuals seeking to lose weight feel that they need a special or certain supplement that will ?boost their metabolism, enhance their fat burning hormones, more aminos to increase protein synthesis, etc.?
They feel that they aren't reaching their goals of packing on losing weight off their frames because they are not taking the right supplement or the correct amount.
However, why aren't we seeing any difference in the people that take these supplements?
Here's something you need to know:
Many ads for supplements claim that their product will raise your fat burning hormones, or other anabolic hormones ?300%?, ?675%?, ?129%?, or whatever.
However, a lot of times, these supplements don't raise the hormones by that amount.
Saying that, even if it did, that doesn't necessarily mean that raising a certain hormone by 300% is going to give you any additional weight loss.
As an example, in an article I wrote titled ?The Natural Growth Hormone Myth and Weight Loss?, I pointed out:
?The body's natural GH production is from 1 IU to 2 IU per day, at most, even during a weight training workout.
However, it takes at least 4 IU a day to see a real difference in any body fat you may burn.?
Well, right now there are many supplements out on the market that supposedly will raise your natural growth hormone levels.
However, there is absolutely no GH-raising supplement available without a prescription that will help you raise that hormone to at least 4 IU per day??..which is the amount that's required to begin to see any type of change to muscle or body fat levels.
Sure, their may be a supplement that will raise a hormone level by 300%, but it may require you to raise that level 2000% to see any difference in the amount of weight loss.
Again, think back to my example of prisoners.
So, next time you have to choose between either buying the latest fat burning supplement or paying this month's rent, I suggest you choose to keep the roof over your head.

Supplement To Lose Weight
Among the more popular and effective weight loss supplements are those that increase the body's metabolic rate. By increasing one's metabolism, the rate at which calories are burned off would be markedly increased. And once you start to burn more calories than you eat, that is a sure-fire way of guaranteeing that you would lose weight. Imagine losing weight simply by doing nothing at all! This method of losing weight is perhaps the couch potato's greatest ally in the fight against the tummy tuft!
For a long time, the most popular substance used in weight loss supplements to increase metabolism was ephedra. This however was banned in America by the food and drug division because it was deemed unsafe for the public to use unchecked. Ephedra, which contains the active compound ephedrine, was proven to be responsible for a wide range of side effects that users were experiencing - from headaches, restlessness and nausea to high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes.
The biggest problem with the use of ephedra was however that its use in weight loss supplements went unchecked for a long period of time, especially since weight loss supplements are not subject to the most stringent food and drug approval tests which meant that at many times it was possible to end up with supplements having inconsistent ephedra levels - some with low levels and others with too much.
In the wake of ephedra, no other substance has been found that could increase the body's metabolism as much. Caffeine is used in many ephedra-free weight loss supplements for the same reason, but it is not quite as effective. Basically though, I guess we can all agree that losing any weight at all while doing nothing is a good thing!
On the flip side of the tablets though, some of the safest and healthiest weight loss supplements continue to be protein-rich shakes and drinks. These may or may not also contain a combination of appetite suppressants or metabolism enhancers among others to maximize the weight loss process. The protein shake is generally intended to be used as a full meal in itself in an attempt to help you maintain how much food you eat while getting the necessary amount of calories a day. Increasing the protein in the diet also has another advantage - it helps to increase the amount of muscle mass in your own body. The more muscle that you build, the more calories that you would burn (muscle burns more calories than fat does).
