The treatment of diverticulitis depends upon the severity of the infection. Under normal circumstances diverticulitis can be cured with lot of rest and a low fiber diet. Along with a course of antibiotics the above stated therapy is the most common treatment of diverticulitis. However, if the condition is more serious with the pain is more serious and the attacks recurring then the need for hospitalization surfaces. If there is serious difficulty in passing bowel then the doctor may consider operating on the patient. There are two kinds of surgery done to cure Diverticulitis. There are two kinds of surgery, primary bowel resection and primary bowel resection with colostomy. The kind of surgery depends on the seriousness of the condition. Here are the two surgical procedures used to cure diverticulitis -
1)Primary bowel resection: this kind of surgery is done on every patient needing surgery to cure their diverticulitis. In this kind of surgery the infected part of the intestine is removed by operation and the healthy and the unaffected part of the colon are reconnected. By doing this normal excretion process is ensured. The process of doing a primary bowel resection also depends upon the amount of inflammation. The two kinds of primary bowel resection surgery are open surgery and laparoscopic surgery. Open surgery is the traditional form of operating on diverticulitis. In open surgery only one long incision is made in the abdomen. Laparoscopic surgery involves around three to four small incisions. Although with laparoscopic surgery the healing is faster, this kind of surgery can not be done on patient having overweight or extended inflammation.
2)Bowel resection with colostomy: this kind of surgery is done when the inflammation in the colon is so much that it becomes almost impossible to do a bowel resection straight away. To stabilize the condition first colostomy is done. In colostomy a stoma or an opening is made in the wall of the abdomen. This opening is then connected to the colon and the waste through the stoma passes in to a bag. The process of colostomy can both be permanent as well as temporary in nature. After months, once the inflammation reduces and is a bit healed then it is possible for the doctors to perform a primary bowel resection to remove the affected part and reconnect the colon with the rectum. This ensures painless bowel movement as well as freedom from other Diverticulitis Symptoms.
Surgery For Prolapsed Bladder
Are you suffering from hyperhidrosis? Well if you are, I'm sure you would have heard of surgery as one of the treatment methods. In this article, I would like to share with you my research on cure hyperhidrosis surgery methods, and whether or when you should consider surgery as a way to cure hyperhidrosis.
Hyperhidrosis surgery exists in many forms, and all of them are costly. The most common form of surgery is probably sweat gland removal. This type of surgery is meant to cure the underarms, and should not be used on the feet or hands. It involves removing the sweat glands around the area where you are sweating excessively. Even though some people have reported to see positive results with it, they do not come without side effects.
Another form of surgery to cure hyperhidrosis is sympathectomy. I would not consider this form of surgery as it involves the nerves near the spinal column in the back of the chest. During surgery, doctors will cut the nerves that are joined to the sweat glands that cause sweating. As a result, the nerves will no longer be able to send signals to your sweat glands.
The other 2 forms of sympathectomy to cure hyperhidrosis are thorax and thoracoscopic sympathectomy. Thorax sympathectomy involves the surgeon cutting open the chest and separating the rib cage to cut the nerves. This form surgery can take a long time to heal and is very painful. Thoracoscopic sympathectomy involves the surgeon cutting small areas under the underarm and putting a small camera into the area, in order to find the nerves that are causing the sweating.
Thoracoscopic Sympathectomy - This is a procedure that involves making small incisions just under the armpit area. The surgeon will insert a tiny camera into the area to find the chain of nerves, where they will then cut open the area and clip the nerve endings. This is a costly procedure that also has its share of possible complications including the possibility of permanent nerve damage.
Surgery for excessive sweating remedies should be the last option. There are many other easier methods in treating sweating problems that you should consider first. If those fail, then look to surgery.
