Colon cancer is a dangerous form of cancer that starts in the colon, and then if nothing is done to treat it, it will start to spread. The causes of colon cancer have not been discovered yet, but scientists are researching its causes and new treatments that can help cure colon cancer and metastatic colon cancer.
The colon and the rectum for the large intestine. First, a tumor appears in the colon or sometimes in the rectum, and then it starts to grow, and the cancerous tissue spreads. In time it can reach other organs, such as the liver or the lungs.
In its early phases colon cancer can be treated quite easily, and the survival rate for patients diagnosed with stage 2 or 3 colon cancer is over 80%. However, if the cancer advances to the third or fourth stage, it will be really hard to cure it, the survival rate drops under 10%, but there still is hope.
This is why it is important to learn the signs and symptoms of colon cancer, and detect them early in order to start the treatment as soon as possible. The problem is that stage 1 or 2 colon cancer has almost no symptoms at all, and it's hard to detect this disease until it has already advanced too much.
These are the common symptoms that may indicate an early colon cancer or a high risk of developing colon cancer:
-stool that contains small amounts of blood
-bleeding from the anus, which appears more rarely, and may just be a coincidence, but it can also be a sign
If colon cancer has advanced, then many symptoms appear. The most commonly encountered ones are:
-pain in the abdomen
-vomiting and nausea
-larger amount of blood in the stool
-change in bowel habits
-sudden weight loss
-thin stool
-stomach cramps
-diarrhea
-fatigue or tiredness
If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above then immediately consult a doctor. Some of them can be cause by other affections, but in either case it's important to seek medical attention. The doctors will perform some tests and clinical trials which will determine if you have or haven't got colon cancer, and how far has it spread.
If it has not spread much then it can easily be treated with a colon cancer surgery, that removes the parts of the large intestine where tumors are.
A stage IV colon cancer diagnose is a very bad news, and it will probably change your life, but remember that there still is hope.
Symptom Of Colon Cancer
An approximate of over 60,000 people this year will die from colon cancer. Colon cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the United States, with an estimate of 112,340 new cases and 52,180 deaths this year. If you can't have a bowel movement more than 3 times a week, you might be having a symptom of colon cancer. Painful stomach cramps, unexplained weight loss, bloating, nausea and vomiting can suggest you might be developing colon cancer.
The fact is that, you can decrease your likelihood of getting colon cancer by about 80% by making changes to your lifestyle. Here are 3 easy lifestyle changes you can make today - that'll help you block colon cancer.
1) Change your diet.
This change won't will seem easy at first, but as time goes by, you'll love your newly improved life. Take in more fibers by eating more vegetables, start reducing cholesterol by drinking green tea (you'll see other amazing benefits just by drinking green tea) and cut down your sugar intake.
Eating the vegetables is the most important. What vegetables do you like the most? Eat at least 2 servings of them per day. You can supplement this by drinking those vegetable mix drinks that have at least a full serving of vegetables per can. You might not be able to take the taste of these drinks during your first tries, but eventually you'll start to love them.
2) Avoid smoking.
If you're a smoker, you're much more likely to get colon cancer, and other kind of diseases. Inhaling smoke can increase the growth rate of polyps/tumor (abnormal growth of tissue), especially the dangerous kind that plays a prime role in creating colon cancer. There have been many clinical trials that link smoking and colon cancer.
If you don't smoke, avoid many “second-hand smoking” areas as possible. These are usually indoor areas where there isn't any kind of ventilation, and you're virtually smoking as well.
3) Take a colon cleanser.
This is by far the fastest and best way to clean your colon, and increase bowel movements. The colon cleansers come in pill form, & they're more effective than the supplements you might have seen at your local drug store.
These supplements are made for killing parasites (you've got hundreds of them in your body), cleaning the intestinal system, and preventing colon cancer so effectively that you won't have to worry about colon cleansing after you're done with the cycle.
