Taking your home off the grid may be a good idea for a lot of different reasons. You will want to find out as much information as you can about it to determine if you want to go that route.

If you want to be independent of the utility companies or if you live in an area that is remote and it will be too expensive for you to reach the grid than it is definitely a good idea to use solar and wind power for your home. Using clean, renewable energy may appeal to you. Once you have made the decision to use solar and/or wind power, your main dilemma will be whether you want to be on the grid or off the grid.
