The first version was issued in the eighties but according to the present standards its graphic was rather poor and primitive. It was written for the computer Electronica-60. Nevertheless, very quickly the puzzle became popular with the staff of Academy of Sciences in USSR and it is not difficult to find it presently.



First Tetris became popular due to electronic game containing up to 100 games. These were Tetris varieties with different level of complexity and with the possibilities to regulate the speed of figures' falling, its number of uncovered lines at the beginning of the stage and its sound maintenance. Now there are few who use the games of such a kind, but Tetris was adapted for modern PCs, mobile telephones and other technical innovations.

The rules of classical Tetris are easy and they have not changed since the issuing of the first version. The figures having I, J, L, O, S, T, Z form are falling on the game field (so called "glass" with size 10x20). Player's task is to place all these figures in such a way so that the covered lines having no empty cells will be created. All covered lines are being deleted and the player is getting additional scores for this and uncovered cells remain and continue to block the field.

Tetris itself can be regarded as endless game which can played for hours, for days and weeks but the speed with every stage is increasing and it is getting more difficult to control the figures.
