The Best Bagless Vacuum

    View:
As with most things in life, there is really nothing free. The two most claimed advantages to bagless vacuum cleaners were lower operating costs and better performance. As far as the cost issues go, all vacuums must filter the exhausting air they use to carry the dirt into the collection area, as they would otherwise simply pick the dirt up from the floor and spit it right back out.

Whether you have a bagless HEPA filter, a pre-filter, or disposable bags, they all need to be changed at some point. With the average life of a vacuum cleaner, you can expect to spend the same on either collection system for filters, but if you value your time, you can expect to spend quite a bit more on a bagless system.

To keep your bagless vacuum cleaner operating at peak levels, you'll need to empty the dirt container when it is full and perform regular maintenance on the filter. The type of filter the vacuum uses will determine just how much service will be required, although most use a pleated HEPA filter.

Cleaning

Even though the claim of better airflow performance with bagless vacuums is true in a sense, over the life of the vacuum you'll get the same, or maybe even better performance from a bagged vacuum cleaner system.

With bagged vacuum cleaners, the performance will start at 100% with each new bag then slowly drop as the bag starts to fill. Just how quickly the performance drops depends on how well the bag is constructed. With the average vacuum and the average bag, you may replace the bag every 3 - 4 weeks with 90% of performance the first week, 70% in weeks 2 and 3, then 50% of less in the fourth week.

The short cycle will insure that you get a 100% peak cleaning every 3 or 4 weeks from the vacuum cleaner. The filtered cyclonic machines have filters that are designed to last 6 months, 12 months, and even up to 18 months before they need to be replaced.

Pets

If you have dogs or cats, whether you see it or not, almost all domestic animals shed their fur on a regular basis throughout their lives. Pet owners often wonder as well, which vacuum is the best to remove pet hair.

For pretty much the same reasons that fur sticks to the carpet, it will also stick to your bagless vacuum's pleated filter cartridge. The fur will reduce the performance of airflow, and is also a pain in the neck to clean off the filter.

Over time, the fiber that makes up the filter can retain odor from pets, even if you clean the filter well. If your filter requires replacing only once a year, you could end up with a vacuum that spits odors that will stink up your house pretty bad.

Bagged up

Those vacuums that use bags will often provide for neat disposal of a full bag. There are some brands such as BOSCH that actually engineer bag disposal into the system. With BOSCH canister vacuums, the replacement of bags is a single dust free step. The new mega filt bags have a built in closure system that upon removal, will slide shut and trap the dirt and debris inside of the bag, making removal quick and easy.

Still, there are many people out there who love bagless machines. Bagless vacuums will continue at a slow place to gain market share, and people will continue to buy them. For many, a bagless vacuum can be the right vacuum to have.

Bags are the technology of the past, while bagless is the technology of the future. There are many reasons as to why you should go bagless. For the vacuums of tomorrow, cylinder and bagless is the key.
The Best Bagless Vacuum
Has this ever happened to you? You are vacuuming your house and all of the sudden your vacuum cleaner bag is full and your vacuum needs filter changing. You look in the closet and it turns out you are all out of bags and filters. You feel angry and upset that you did not get an extra package of bags and that your machine constantly needs bag changing. You wish you had a machine that does not use bags exclusively and a machine that does not consistently require filters changing. A Bagless Vacuum Cleaner would answer this problem however a bagless vacuum cleaner creates problems as well. Every vacuum cleaner has positives and negatives to it and it is up to the user to figure out if the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for their lifestyle.

Many people wonder why they would want a bagless vacuum cleaner and if there are many advantages to owning one. The biggest advantage of a bagless unit is that it does not require bag changes. The vacuum cleaner fills up a canister that is emptied when full. This means no frequent bag changes and no worrying if you have enough bags. The bag situation stated in the first paragraph could never occur because you would never run out of bags.

Another advantage found in certain bagless vacuum cleaners such as the Dyson is no need for filter changes. The filters are actually washable and only need to be washed every 6 months or so. You let the filter dry out for about 12 hours and you are ready to vacuum again. Washing filters instead of replacing them every 6 months saves you time and money. Not all bagless vacuum brands have this feature so watch out for brands that require frequent filter changes because filters can be a disadvantage for many bagless vacuums.

Cyclonic technology is a feature some vacuums such as the Dyson, which allows the vacuum cleaner to provide the same amount of suction despite of the amount of filth filling the bin. So even of the vacuum dirt bin is entirely filled with dirt the vacuum will never lose suction. Again this feature is not found in all bagless vacuum cleaners, but should be heavily considered in you search for a better vacuum. A bagless vacuum that does not have the cyclonic technology will fill up with dirt and quickly lose suction, causing you anger and frustration.

Despite the advantages to owning a bagless vacuum cleaner there are also disadvantages to owning such a cleaner. A strong drawback to owning a bagless vacuum cleaner is the emptying of the dirt bin. With a bagless vacuum emptying the dirt bin quickly becomes an unbearable chore for you. When emptying the bin the dirt does not neatly empty into the trash bin, instead it scatters everywhere and quickly sullies the floor you just cleaned and dirtying the air with contaminates you were trying to rid your house of. Emptying the dirt bin is so bad that many bagless vacuum manufactures advise emptying the dust bin outside to prevent getting dirt everywhere in the house. If you suffer from asthma or allergies, this situation can trigger outbreaks. Those with either condition are strongly advised to purchase a bagged vacuum cleaner, to both avoid allergenic or asthmatic outburst and maintain a healthier house.

A bagless unit also makes you see everything you have picked up. It shows exactly how much dirt you just picked up and the dirt stays in the canister staring at you until you dump it outside. This an extremely undesirable feature for many clean freaks because at all times the bin looks dirty. The bin looks dirty even you have emptied the bin because the dirt and dust clings to the plastic bin. Bagless Vacuums use clear plastic bins so you always see the dirt and the only way to get rid of it is to wash out the entire bin. Washing out the entire bin requires a lot of time and energy and will have to be done every time after you vacuum if you cannot stand the look of a dirty bin.

A serious weakness to the bagless vacuum cleaner is the filtration system. Due to the poor construction of many bagless machines filters quickly get filled with dirt and prevent proper cleaning job, leaving you with dirty and disgusting air. Not only does the filtration system not work correctly in many bagless vacuum systems but you are required to change the filter every 6 months, leaving you with a bill of about $80 dollars a year; a steep price for a vacuum you thought had no additional equipment to purchase. For this reason when buying a vacuum cleaner try purchasing a vacuum cleaner with a lifetime filter such as the Dyson or a bagged vacuum where the filtration system works properly and constantly.

With a bagless vacuum cleaner you are not forced to purchase bags and filters for the machine, but it when purchasing your subsequent vacuum cleaner it is important to keep in mind the negatives of buying a bagless vacuum cleaner as well. Bagless vacuum cleaners are a horrendous choice for those with asthma and allergies, as the construction of the machine is far from friendly with those with these types of conditions. Overall it is the choice of the user, and the lifestyle of the user. However not having to replace the bag has many drawbacks such as a vacuum cleaner that never looks clean, needs filter replacements every 6 months for an ineffective filter, and a machine that constantly emits contamination into the air. Now you are armed with useful information about the positives and negatives of both the bagged and bagless vacuum cleaner, which can help you find out what is best for you and your current situation.
