Try fishing Arcadia Lake near Oklahoma City in Edmund. Many anglers believe that Acadia is one of the best choices for catching even trophy sized blue, channel and flathead catfish. There have been all kinds of enhancements done to the lake, including an indoor dock that has handicapped access, making it a favorite for people of all ages and conditions. Whether you are a boat fishing enthusiast or prefer to fish from the bank, Acadia offers ample opportunity to take home your limit!



In Acadia, the cats spawn at about eighty degrees, and they generally prefer the shallows where the bottoms are rocky. If you can target the shad rich areas, you are sure to find Mr. Whiskers nearby looking for a tasty supper. There are strategically placed brush piles that are marked with buoys. These areas were built specifically for the shad population to nest, and are great areas to fish for catfish on Acadia Lake.

Grand Lake O' The Cherokees is another good catfishing Lake in Oklahoma. Near Afton, in the Tulsa area, Grand Lake offers fishing excellence, particularly during the month of August, when both bank and boat fishing for catfish tends to be optimal. Blue cats seem to be teeming in the Bernice region, and the cats really have an appetite for cut shad in this area. If it is channel catfish for which you are fishing, concentrate your efforts on the flats with muddy bottoms, and fish in from five to thirty feet of water. If you want to target flathead cat, consider fishing at night. Use live bait like shad or perch, and taget the mudflats, particularly in the Neosho River and in the Port Arthur region.

Lake Hudson is another great area in Oklahoma for which to catfish. This lake is located just south of Grand Lake in the Grand River system, and those expert on the area say the fishing is just as good as Grand Lake but without the crowds.

You can catch channel, blue, and flathead catfish here with ease. Just drift fish, and use cut bait. You are practically guaranteed success! Just off the Highway 82 bridge, there is some great bridge fishing for you, if you are not inclined to get out on the water.

Lake Texoma is also very well known within the state of Oklahoma, as being a grand catfishing Lake. The world record blue cat was pulled from these very waters back in 2008, and weighed in at over 121 lbs. So, as shows the evidence, these are prime catfishing waters, and there are many other record sized cats being pulled from these waters on a regular basis.

Waurika Lake is located in the Southwestern part of Oklahoma, and is near the town of Waurika. If you fish from a boat and use cut shad as bait, you will have good luck at Waurika. There is little bank access, though, so you very nearly must have a boat to enjoy these catfish rich waters.
