When I first started in internet network marketing I e-mailed my “team leader” asking him the #1 thing I should focus on. The answer: “building a relationship with the people [you] have already sponsored.” What? How about sponsoring more people and growing my business… I need more prospects – or so I thought.
He said I need to “spend time to get to know them… their goals, time commitments… help them to get their first 2 people and THEN HAVE THEM DO THE SAME TO GET THE DUPLICATION.” I've written before on the importance of building relationships with prospects, and now I want to emphasize the importance of building a relationship with your team. It is YOUR team. People want to see success and feel they belong to a company that cares about them. This also leads to retention of your team members – in addition to them feeling motivated to recruit others. Thus, your team can grow through duplication and team efforts.
Remember the great thing about network marketing is LEVERAGE. By having a strong bond with your team members you will have greater retention, and your team will grow exponentially.
At that point, as my team leader also said, “this will create a large amount of people, but you need to be prepared to handle that team.”
