As excitement builds up for the much-anticipated two-hour finale of Lost, theories have been thrown like they were all season long on how things will be resolved as the season ends. The things that we are certain for right now are the following: the island has to be moved, something has happened to Claire, and the Oceanic 6 will be taken off the island. Surely in the Lost universe, things are not always simple as they seem, especially in a finale as intense as this.
As early as the third episode of season 1, Lost viewers have realized that something is amiss with how time passes in the island. It was made clear that time on the island is very different from time in the real, outside world. In another episode, however, it was revealed that time in and off the island is the same and the disparity only occurs while traveling between the two. It is in this light that the first event is premised on. It seems highly likely that the island will not be moved physically, but in time. If this is done, however, it presents more questions, such as how the Oceanic 6 will return to the island in the future if it is moved. On the other hand, will this mean the Oceanic 6 will be able to go slightly back in time to rectify some things on the island?
In "Cabin Fever," there is no doubt that something mysterious has happened to Claire. We will likely find out what in the finale but it is very likely that whatever it is, it will make her absent throughout the next season, only returning on the one after that.
Some Lost theorists believe that season 5 will be all about the Oceanic 6. And six these people have been taken off the island, an event or person will make them go back, setting up what would be an even more amazing fifth installment.
The Game Season 4 Finale
The future of FOX's once mighty prime time soap opera, The OC, is murky, at best. The OC has gone through some rough creative stretches over the past two years, leading fans to question not only whether or not the OC will make it beyond its fourth season, but whether it even should. FOX has fueled the cancellation speculation by only ordering sixteen episodes (instead of the normal twenty four) this year. The reasons for this are unclear, but they likely have to do with both the actors willingness to continue on with The OC and the producers admitting that the program is on its last legs.
However, The OC may be in the midst of a creative rebirth. Season 4 of The OC premieres in November and the early buzz surrounding the first few episodes has been overwhelmingly positive. The BuddyTV review of the season 4 premiere points to a return to greatness for The OC, stating that the episode is the best since season 1. What does this all mean?
Can a great season prompt a new found confidence in The OC by FOX? Will the actors, especially Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson, see the increased quality of their scripts and agree to go beyond what they thought would be the OC's final farewell?
It may be impossible to tell at this juncture, but speculation runs rampant as season 4 of The OC gets underway. Season four begins five months after the tragic death of Marisa Cooper. Marisa Cooper was played by the beautiful Mischa Barton, who is credited with helping make The OC a hit in the first place. She left the show by mutual agreement with the producers, although it was clear the Mischa had been itching to start her film career.
Interestingly, Mischa's character may have been what was hampering The OC, creatively, for the past two years. Her absence makes the first episode of season 4 dark and dramatic. Is it the catalyst that will turn the fortunes of The OC around?
