Just about everyone knows that a girl's night out is an important way for women to get together and strengthen their bonds of friendship. As much as they love their husband or significant other and/or children, they need a chance to get away and talk with people that really understand them. Nobody understands a woman like another woman. A girl's night out at the movies gives them a chance to watch the latest "chick flick" and leads to a great discussion afterwards.
The problem is that these days a night at the movies is just too darn expensive. By the time you pay the babysitter, buy gas, pay for the movie tickets and purchase a highly overpriced beverage and popcorn deal, you'll be lucky to eat beans and rice the rest of the week! A simple solution is a girl's night in with a cheap DVD movie. With the best bargain movies that are available online the girls can all gather together and enjoy the latest blockbuster release while the husbands watch the kids.
Of course the single gals don't have to worry about that and either one of them can host the party or the husband and kids of the hostess can join forces at one of the other ladies' homes. One person can be in charge of buying a cheap DVD or two. Everyone can bring a dish to pass like seven layer dip, chips and salsa or the classic movie favorite buttered popcorn. The hostess may want to set out small bowls of chocolate candies and should have plenty of ice on hand for soda. Why not combine the movie with a spa night. The ladies can all soak their feet in dish tubs with Epsom salts (you can get the tubs at the dollar store) and put on a facial mask while they enjoy the cheap DVD to watch. Not only will everyone feel beautiful but they will also have a great time.
Don't worry that buying a bargain DVD means getting some old title that nobody wants to watch, either. The best bargain movies are the latest releases and come brand new in factory sealed packages. You can opt for the newest chick flicks like Sex and the City or Baby Mama for a fun girl's night in without the big expense. It seems like everyone is on a budget these days and a fun-filled evening with a cheap DVD is a great solution for the girls to get together and enjoy each other's company.
The Girls Night Out
As usual youve got minutes to get ready before heading out the door. You throw back a sip of coffee, brush your teeth, and:
• Wrestle into a sweatshirt to match your flannel pajama bottoms;
• Fasten yourself into paint spattered sweatpants and a baggy t-shirt; or
• Slide into your I hope nobody I know sees me in these jeans and should have been thrown out already sweatshirt.
If any of the above answers sounded like you Mama, its a fact; having children put your fashion sense on the back burner. Most moms are more concerned with how their children look than themselves. If your day to day wardrobe consist of wearing sweat clothes at home, to the school, to the store, out to eat with friends and to bed (not exactly the wardrobe of a sex kitten). Youre addicted to sweats.
Feeding your addiction to baggy sweats has left your fashion sense starving and unwittingly labeled you as the mom whos always in sweats. However, the easiest part about weaning yourself off of sweats is realizing that your entire wardrobe does not need to be replaced, just revamped. You can still enjoy an occasional piece in moderation and more importantly as stylish accessories.
Mama's Fix: Bright Tops, Jeans and Don't Forget the Lip-Gloss
If comfortable clothing is in order, than wear it but draw from todays trends in casual and flattering fashion. For starters, try a preppy Lacoste polo shirt or create your own personalized t-shirts online, a hoodie with matching stretch lace camisole, jeans or cotton blend bootcut pants and matching jewelry. Its relaxed but chic, NOT sloppy sweats. Now slap on some lip gloss and let your hair down. Its Girls-Night-Out and you look like a million dollars.
