The Magic Of Thinking

    View:
The magic of Christmas can be felt many times throughout the year if there are Christmas presents to buy. Those presents could be placed in large boxes, wrapped in colorful paper and bows and hid underneath the bed until Christmas Eve. Parents realize the mystery that surrounds the Holiday season and they know that Christmas presents can also magically appear under the tree a week or two before the glorious holiday is due and no adults in the house will tell where they have been.

A child has great expectations about Christmas and will often ask quite a few questions about Santa and the Elves. They might be particularly interested in Rudolph and ask their parents how a reindeer can fly. The parents have evidently spent many evening watching television programs that are centered on the magic of Christmas and all of the presents that this jolly old man in the red suit will deliver on Christmas Eve. At least, that is their viewpoint on why they must go to bed extra early on Christmas Eve, and parents always seem very thankful for that fact.

The magic comes from the heart of children all over the world and is an especially fond holiday of children that live in poverty all over the world. To them, a present might be a roast duck or a bowl of rice, but those children are thankful for that one holiday of the year when they know they will have the opportunity to eat right. To those less fortunate, the story of Santa and his grand sleigh might not ever reach their ears if it was not for the missionaries who live in poverty with them and bring hope of a different kind to their ears each day.

There is no limit to the amount of magic that can be placed in a child's life just by an act of kindness. The holiday shoppers that select items to give as gifts to children that are homeless or living in shelters are the ones who are truly blessed during the Christmas holiday season. The joy of Christmas is truly defined when gift givers see the light in a child's eye brighten a bit and when they see a smile grace the face of a sick child when they go to sleep.

Some people volunteer their time every holiday season to bring magic to the lives of the elderly. This time of year is the loneliest of times for people that are aged because they feel that they are forgotten. Perhaps the price of gas kept their family from visiting that year or there is nobody left that they consider to be a friend. The loneliness will often go away for a considerable length of time when carolers stop by for a evening of song. Through the words of the Christmas carols, the aged can remember happy times and what the Christmas holidays truly represent.

Every person in the world can spread their own brand of magic during the Christmas holiday season. Some will remember to leave a gift for the postman who works so hard for everyone throughout the year. Others will remember a doctor, nurse or other health care professional that has made a difference in their own life. Without one or two of those individuals, there is a good chance that somebody might not have lived to see the magic of Christmas once more in their lifetime.
The Magic Of Thinking
The English army considered the longbow their most vital piece of weaponry. The popularity of the sport flourished so strongly that a royal degree in 1363 encouraged all Englishmen to practice their aim on Sundays and during the holidays ? a non-negotiable issue. At first, very few styles of shooting existed, but soon, clout shooting (arrows arched high in the air), "roving marks" style (involved more movement), and butt shooting (targets made out of turfs of earth) surfaced.

In 1900, archery became part of the second Olympic games after touching the lives of ancient Middle Easterners, Byzantines, Mongols, Pygmies in Africa, Normans, and Eskimos about the Western Hemisphere. In 1920, the sport was dropped from the lineup because of a clash of international regulations. In 1972 however it waseembreced once again as an Olympic Sport with the creation of a set of standardized rules. As a pastime it continues to be as popular as ever.

Archery Skills and Attributes

An assortment of physical and mental skills is involved in the sport of archery. Hand-eye coordination, body control, trained muscles, the drawing and aiming of the arrow, focus, hand relaxation, arm strength, and steadiness are just some of the key characteristics that contribute to the success of hitting an intended target.

It looks deceptively easy until you attempt it yourself. There are many factors that affect the flight of an arrow, including flight path, distance from target, wind, arrow length, initial angle, and arrow weight.

A great step forward is to actually understand the mechanics involved in this marvellous sport. The bow is a simple apparatus that transforms the energy stored when an archer bends the bow. The potential energy is then transformed to the arrow in the form of kinetic energy as soon as the archer lets go of the arrow. Archers eventually learn to control the variables involved in this pastime. such as the higher the initial velocity of an arrow, the faster and farther it will travel, to attain higher levels of skill in this pastime.

As with so many things a key thing is to master the basics. Accessories, like arm guards and finger tabs, helps to boost precision.

It is the key skills of good stance, draw and aim techniques, release and follow through that determines to a large degree the archer's success.

The archery stance is important because of the effect it has on weight distribution, essential for shot consistency. Correct foot position is also significant. |For example the preferred stance of many is called ?the oblique? despite being hard to maintain. An even stance is considered a natural body position, but can decreases string body clearance.

An archer will draw and aim by holding the bow between their thumb and index finger. Relaxation of the fingers is a necessity and greatly improves archery results. When pulling the bowstring, controlled breathing is key. With proper body alignment, the bow is ready for rising, followed by target assessment and aim. After establishing focus the arrow can be released. A bow that trembles when first lifted or cannot be held steady for at least five seconds means the selected bow is too heavy.

To increase archery accuracy, trained muscles make a difference. The back and the arms should point straight at the target and be in control when drawing the bow string. Upper body strength is important to work and control the bow.

In this pastime hours of fun are met with physically demanding characteristics that allow individuals to test their focus, strength and control and concentration to extremely high levels.
