Universal Studios Florida opened in 1990. The slogan for the park is Ride the Movies. Each ride in Universal is centered on a popular movie released by the studio. This park is especially popular with adults and children who are a bit old for Disney World. There are some rides that are suitable for young guests. The others are better for older kids.
If the park is busy on the day your visit, consider purchasing an Express Pass. This allows you to bypass the longer lines. There is a $25 fee for the pass. If you plan to visit Islands of Adventure as well, consider a combination pass which can save money.
Rides at Universal Studios Florida
Shrek 4D is based on the popular animated movie. The ride is a honeymoon adventure that picks up where the movie ended. The special effects of the Shrek ride allow guests to hear, see and feel the action on the screen.
Men in Black Attack is set up to put guests in the role of agents in training. Your job during this ride is to protect the earth from alien invaders. You are seated in a six seat vehicle outfitted with a laser gun and gaming system. As you shoot the aliens, your score is recorded on the system. Aliens are chased in the city and at the end of the ride; the guests are promoted to agent status. This ride is unique in that there is a different ending each time. You can ride again and experience a different ending.
The Incredible Hulk roller coaster is 150 feet tall and reaches speeds of up to 67 miles per hour. In the first two seconds of the ride, you will experience speeds of 40 miles per hour. The coaster has seven inversions and two trenches. This ride has a height requirement of 54 inches.
Twister lets guests feel what it is like to be in the middle of a storm. On this ride, you are a storm chaser. The ride is live action simulation and has amazing special effects. You will feel the air and hear the storm. This ride is quite loud and may scare younger children.
Fear Factor is a live show at Universal Studios Florida. There is a casting process to select guests to participate in the show. Six guests compete in three stunts before a live audience. Eighteen additional guests are selected from the audience to participate in the show. There is one winner from each live performance.
Spider Man is a virtual simulator ride that combines 3D technology with live action. It simulates the action of swinging high above the city on an adventure as Spider Man. This ride is best for older children and adults.
City Walk at Universal Studios Florida
City Walk is located on the property of Universal. There are restaurants, shops and a variety of other entertainment options here. City Walk is a great place to spend the evening after a day of fun in the park. Enjoy dining at Emeril's restaurant or the NASCAR Cafe. If you want to enjoy a good meal and night life, visit Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. There are also a variety of other clubs and restaurants. There is also a 20 screen Cineplex located here.
There are a few resort hotels on the property of Universal. These include the Hard Rock Hotel, Royal Pacific and Portofino Bay Hotel. These hotels are very convenient if you plan to spend most of your time at Universal, Islands of Adventure and City Walk.
