The Office Company Picnic

    View:
The lazy days of summer are here at last and with them, out-door activities such as picnics and barbeques. For many of us these activities provide an opportunity to wear casual, comfortable clothing such as shorts and t-shirts. Although these items can work well for casual gatherings, expectations for the company picnic may require a little more thought.

Sexy & frumpy have no place in the workplace. They also have no place at business gatherings, even at the park. When dressing for work or any work related activity it's important to appear credible. Consider style, fabric and appropriateness.

How casual is too casual? Just because it's comfortable it doesn't mean it's suitable. Consider the condition of the garment as well. Well-worn, wrinkled, stained or dirty clothing appears sloppy and reflects on your personality.

Although shorts may be appropriate for the occasion, it's important to recognise that not all shorts are created equal. Cut-offs and short-shorts may be worn for socializing with friends, but not business acquaintances. Opt for walking shorts, Bermudas or Capri's instead.

More skin - less credibility. For women, sleeveless tops may be warranted by the heat. However tanks, cropped tops, backless and halters are not. Appropriate styles for men include quality t-shirts and polo's.

Lightweight fabrics are cool - sheer is not? Always be aware of what is showing under the clothing.

Fabric can dramatically alter the look of a garment making it appear casual, professional, sexy or dressy. When choosing fabrics consider how credible you appear.

Watch what you say! Advertising and novelty slogans on clothing can say a lot about you and your personality. The wrong logo or slogan speaks louder than words and may damage your company's reputation and yours. Your company's logo proudly displayed advertises the company and you as its representative.

Choose clothing that fits. Clothing that is too small will emphasize your body shape, diminishing your credibility; Clothing that is too big adds bulk and makes the wearer look frumpy. Well fitted clothing looks more expensive and well put together.

To ?dress for success? at the company picnic, credibility is the key. Use these tips and choose your wardrobe accordingly
The Office Company Picnic
If you've already compiled the list of everything you need to do to plan your company's picnic, add one more - keeping the guests occupied. Make sure you have plenty of company picnic games in mind to entertain attendees with. Luckily, it will probably be more fun than the rest of your duties as picnic planner, so get started by choosing the ones that best fit your needs.

Possibly one of the best things about a company event is the chance to rub elbows with management and treat them like every other person you know! What better way to do so than to have the ever-popular "Dunk Your Boss" dunk tank. As far as company picnic games go, it's a must have!

Dunk tanks are a popular rental during picnic season, and one of the hottest company picnic games out there. Every employee wants a chance at their boss with no fear of repercussions, so give them the opportunity. If your budget is tight, it might be worth cutting a few corners in other areas to get the tank.

Since company events are often as much about team-building as they are a reward for employees, make sure to include team sports in your list of company picnic games. Volleyball, softball, horseshoes - they're all easy to plan and take little equipment. The combination of teamwork and competitiveness is a great way to build camaraderie.

Of course, no picnic could be complete without children to keep the adults busy! Just make sure you've got plenty of child-friendly company picnic games. A moon bounce, ball pit, or even tug of war and sack races will keep most kids happy. Keep the kids happy, and you'll keep your coworkers happy as well!

Water games are another must-have for your picnic - if the weather permits of course! Sprinklers, water gun fights, water balloon toss - they're all great wet and wacky company picnic games to provide for your attendees. If your picnic gets caught in the middle of a heat wave, plenty of water activities will allow people to have a great time without fear of keeling over from heat!

Of course, if the thought of all this organization tires you out - there's always the easy way out - hold your company picnic at an amusement park! It may seem a bit lazy - but lets face is - amusement parks have something for every age, and often you get huge discounts on group rates. It might take the fun out of planning your company picnic games but hey - you have enough to worry about, right? This just takes one thing off your plate. Happy planning!
