For the Toyota engine to have optimum performance, its temperature must be properly regulated. What is really a thermostat? A thermostat is a simple valve that opens only when the engine reaches its right operating temperature. After the coolant has absorbed heat, it will proceed to the radiator where the heat will be dissipated through the radiator fins. If it is struck open, it will be very difficult for the engine to heat up because any heat that is generated will be immediately absorbed by the coolant. If it is clogged shut, the engine will constantly overheat because no coolant will flow into the engine’s body. Either way, it is detrimental to the engine and to the entire automobile.
