Most people who have a blushing problem do not class it as a phobia initially. They are aware that they blush easily and, whilst it does trouble them, it does not change their lives in any major way. They may just put it down to their health or a passing phase and so can get on with their lives as usual.
However, when the blushing problem worsens, it can turn into a gripping phobia that can ruin your life. Though you worry about blushing, often others cannot actually see you blushing.
Like most phobias, Erythrophobia starts off innocently enough but worsens as time progresses. There are two distinct stages - at first you blush easily every now and again, and later, as you become more and more self-conscious, you begin to blush more excessively.
Once you start blushing excessively, it can hurt you physically as well as mentally. It can get so bad that you might spend all your time worrying about it. In fact, the more you worry, the more you will blush.
If you blush easily, it may happen only a few times a week but blushing excessively can happen many times a day. Actually, blushing easily may only be slight blushing but excessive blushing is often extreme and will mentally burn you up.
This may seem extremely concerning and can cause some people to go into a blind panic, but help is close by. You can in fact learn to manage your blushing as time passes. You can resist it, so to speak, and also reduce the severity of your blushing as well.
Most people find it difficult to make a start. At the first sign of negativity, they become overcome by self-pity and get discouraged. And there is a lot of negativity, since only a few people suffer from Erythorphobia, and only those who have the phobia understand what you are going through. However, with time and effort, Erythrophobia can be overcome slowly but effectively.
However, if you continue to battle against the problem of excessive blushing, you will soon find that it becomes easier as time goes by. Your progress will encourage you to carry on with your self-help. One tiny ray of hope is all it takes and you will soon find that it becomes much easier to cope with your blushing problem. You can even begin living a normal life again.
