I've been thinking about this question a lot lately: "What's the REAL reason we have fear?" Why? Because I've been having more fear than usual. Why? I'm doing things that are new in my business and thus, I'm in unfamiliar territory. You've probably heard these explanations for the root of your fear more than once:
* You're out of your comfort zone
* You need more information
* You fear the unknown
* You lack courage
* You lack focus
* You lack self-confidence
And that's just a short list! While all of those reasons are potentially valid depending upon the situation, I'd like to dig a little deeper, using your fingerprints as our map through fear. Your fingerprints reveal several aspects of your soul, and one of those aspects is your Life Lesson. Your Life Lesson is your blind spot, your gremlin, your nemesis, your "negative tapes." Your Life Lesson could be one or a combination of these issues:
* panic caused by a life out of balance (everything is an *emergency*)
* anxiety making decisions
* not expressing your authentic feelings due to the perceived expectations of others
* sacrificing yourself into burdensome obligation
* lack of clarity about your definition of success
* challenges owning your power in the world
* challenges managing your energy, time and money
* challenges expressing your creativity
* challenges speaking up for your self
* challenges with your family and community (on a life scale)
* challenges finding your passion and dealing with victimization, shame and numbness
* challenges finding your niche due to guilt ("If I succeed, it takes away from others." THAT kind of guilt)
* paralyzing fear of rejection
* trust/surrender/intimacy issues with anything: other people, food, money, etc.
If you look at the above list, are there one or two Life Lessons that really stand out for you? My Life Lesson is "not expressing my authentic feelings due to the perceived expectations of others." Sooooo... now I'm doing new and different things with my business - and what do I fear? You guessed it! I fear what other people think and feel about me. (I recognize I have no control over what others think and feel about me. But it doesn't make my lesson any less painful for the knowing.) If you follow any fear to its natural conclusion, the fear is a painful outcome - humiliation, shame, excommunication, torture, fire, starvation, annihilation, etc. You think I'm kidding? I'm not kidding. THAT'S why we get so afraid about making that important phone call, closing the sale, standing up to our mother or father or our children.
Our Life Lesson is the surface issue that trips us up - it acts, amazingly enough, as a PROTECTION mechanism. What lies below that surface issue is our fear of not surviving. Fear lives in our mid-brain or *reptile brain* and it runs on instinct. All our crocodile brain knows is that if you step into the "Life Lesson Zone," something scary is going to happen.
And then the drama begins. You get distracted, you procrastinate, you have no money, you have no time... The drama is the crocodile brain's way of keeping you from FACING your Life Lesson and hence, learning it. By not facing the Life Lesson, our crocodile brain achieves ITS goal of keeping us stuck. When we learn our Life Lesson, we actualize our Life Purpose.

Would you buy a product that you knew had a 95% failure rate? Not one of us would ever knowingly buy a car or a computer that was known to fail 95% of the time. So why then do so many of us spend our money, give hours of our time, and worst of all our hope and dreams to diets that have a 95% failure rate?
It is a fact that 95% of overweight people who go on any diet program end up at failing to lose the weight they wish and many end up with more body fat after it. Out of every 1000 people who go on a diet, it does not work for 950 of them ? it failed.
The problem is that diets don't address the real reason that a person is overweight. Some so called 'experts' even look at areas of a person's life that could cause them to overeat such as addiction to food, or childhood issues but although these things may play a part they are not the real reason for becoming overweight.
People that don't know what they are talking about are trying to complicate weight loss because they don't understand how the human body works. It is so simple; our modern lifestyles have removed the two most important factors in our bodies remaining lean and healthy ? regular vigorous physical activity and proper nutrition.
These two factors keep our metabolism (our body's engine) in good running order so it can burn fat for fuel instead of storing it. We live our lives now barely moving each day. We drive to work, we sit all day, and we drive home then sit for hours in front of a screen of some sort, then go to bed. This is living a sedentary lifestyle which cannot possibly keep our body healthy.
On top of that we eat high processed mass produced food that comes in pretty boxes with fancy labels. Much of this so called 'food' is made with low cost ingredients that contain virtually no essential nutrition.
Is it any wonder that almost three quarters of the world's population are overweight and one out of every two of us has a disease or illness and many with multiple conditions? Other people are tired, and lack the energy to really enjoy life. We are not giving our bodies what they need to stay lean and healthy.
Our bodies are hardwired to be very physically active; this allowed us to survive as a species through the hardships that our ancient ancestors encountered on a daily basis. We cannot just cut that aspect out of our lives and expect there to be no consequences.
You see, when we exert ourselves physically it stimulates certain hormones which are chemical messengers. They deliver messages to every cell, tissue, organs and system in the body to repair, renew, rebuild, or replace themselves. Without these instructions we head off down a path of degeneration with becoming overweight being just one of the symptoms.
So, going on a diet is the opposite of what is needed to turn this situation around. Any diet that restricts food below a certain point is working against the body not with it.. Our genetic blueprint will trigger the survival mode when an assault is made on the body and food deprivation is a really big threat.
If you are overweight you need to do two things, get yourself started on a proper exercise program that contains at least 60% strength training exercise and the balance interval training and start eating small meals made with whole unprocessed foods every 2-3 hours throughout the day. Each of these meals need to include 20-30 grams of protein.
The goal is to crank up the metabolism so it can burn more fuel (calories) every minute of the day and night slowly eating into those fat stores. You simply cannot be overweight if your lifestyle doesn't support it.
So make those necessary changes and watch your body change over time into the lean, slim and healthy one that we are supposed to have. Don't settle for anything less and whatever changes you need to make will be well worth it so you can get the maximum enjoyment out of your one and only life.
