Everything you have been doing today has been going wrong. You cut yourself while shaving, the car didn’t start, you got late for office and the boss decided to check only today, and to top it all you lost your wallet while returning home. At the end of the day you couldn’t be faulted for wondering out aloud if you got out of the wrong side of the bed! While it could happen to anybody, you may well like to reduce your chances of having a bad day from the start.



If a place has the potential to make or break your entire day’s proceedings, you might as well as make it good and comfortable – why take a chance?

Even though I do not believe in such ‘mumbo jumbo’ as I call it, sometimes I am left wondering if there actually is something to it. On certain days, events unfold in such a way that they make you wonder if there really was some meaning behind your having got out bed this morning ‘the wrong side’.

The selection of your furniture has major implications in how your bedroom looks and feels. You could pick up a traditional double bed or from amongst the modern platform beds for your master bedroom. Did the furniture store salesman guide you to pick up a smart pair of matching side tables as well? If not, go for it now- the tables are extremely useful for keeping trinkets like your watch, jewelry, reading glasses, the book you’ve been reading before you go to bed etc. Use them to keep the night lamp and the glass of water you may need during the night or your morning cup of coffee.

Space permitting, use a good pair or recliners to provide some comfortable seating during times that you may want to chit chat and not sit on the bed (it may not be the most comfortable of places to ‘sit’ on). If the space available is less, you could go in for bedroom chairs. Though less comfortable than the former, they will also do the job admirably well. A chair set would cost considerably less as well.

Does your bedroom face the sun or away from it? Whatever the feng shui enthusiasts may say (I don’t know, really – the art never enthused me enough), a simple fact is that a room that has the early morning sun’s rays streaming onto your bedroom furniture, is bound to fill your mornings with an energy unparalleled by anything else. If you are an early riser, you may be lucky enough to have a look at the rising sun. One look at the magnificent orange ball of fire and you will be so mesmerized by its sheer beauty and the energy it fills inside you that you will like to do it again, and again, and yet again. Not for nothing does the Indian art of Yoga have a special stance called the ‘Surya Namaskar’, or a salute to the rising sun. The ancients knew the energy of the rising sun and its inherent benefits, and learnt how to derive positive vibes from it.

Do keep the bedroom neat and clean. It is natural for a few things to be thrown around at night, but they should be done up first thing in the morning. It reflects poorly on the inmates of the room should it be anything less than immaculately neat and clean.

So do not worry and enjoy your new-found luck to the utmost!
