Security uniforms are being sold all over the place and everyone claims that their garments are the best. Many of the sites on the Web have similar uniforms, shirts, trousers and even logos, and yet the prices differ. For the average consumer, this is puzzling. The average person looks at a uniformed individual with awe and always assumes that he or she is some type of an authority figure. Security uniforms should be worn with pride and respect. So before you go and buy your security uniform there are certain things that you have to know. These include the following:
Color: Looks at the color of the uniform. Make sure it is similar to what is required. Do not buy a light blue shirt when a grey one is required. And do not buy an alternative color if the store has run out of your color. Color is the essence of your profession. In general, darker colors are preferred as they do stand out. However, the shirt should always be in a lighter cover compared to the pants. Never buy pink. Pink uniforms are not in fashion.
Fabric: Security uniforms go through a lot of wear and tear. You will be going into every type of environment- from extremes of cold to hot and from clean to extreme dirt. Make sure that the fabric of the material is sturdy, durable and yet preserves the crispy image. Also one needs to get a fabric that will function in all weather. You do not want to wear a nylon shirt in the middle of the winter. Plus, if you sweat, and you definitely will at some point, then you need to get a fabric that will absorb all the moisture. You also want the fabric to feel cool in the hot weather. And finally make sure that the fabric is not hybrid of plastic and cloth. You do not want it to easily catch a fire. The best recommended product is either cotton or polyester.
Size: Make sure you get pants and shirts which fit. Do not buy from a store which has one size fits all. If you do, then you are sure to find that either the pants are too long or the shirt is too tight. If you cannot get a garment in your size, pay an extra few bucks and you can get custom designed garments.
Accessories: The majority of security uniforms have all types of tags, patches, badges, lines and colors. Since most of these accessories can be added on, buy from a store which will help you add the accessories on. Most decent garment stores have technicians who can help you draw the design you want and have it imprinted on the garment.
Customized: Since security personnel have to wear their uniforms almost daily, and also be comfortable and presentable, try and get custom designed garments. Most of the major dealers in garments have tailors and technicians which can make the garments for you with a minimal cost.
Warranty: Ensure that all products you buy from a dealer have a warranty. Ask if there is a return policy and what are the rules. No point in buying an entire batch of security uniforms and finding out that they do not match or fit and then you can't return them.
The Right To Security
Cost of administration: In addition to the purchase cost, you need to factor in how much it costs to administer and manage the security software. It may require additional skills and expertise. Consider the cost as a whole and come up with a realistic return on investment before you make a purchase.
User friendliness: The security software will affect every system on your network. You need to be sensitive to the user friendliness of the products that you purchase so that employees do not have serious problems getting used to them.
Software distribution: The security software should not interfere with an employee’s access to software that he or she needs in the course of their work. If there is too much interference, it can lead to unnecessary delays and a loss of productivity.
Updates: The security software company should offer updates that can be easily and quickly downloaded to keep the software current. Charges for these updates should be nominal and the process should be seamless and automatic. There should also be adequate and innovative updates.
Integration: The software should be able to run on your software and hardware platforms and enhance your specific systems. Choosing an established and innovative vendor can help you achieve the convergence level you will need.
Licensing and pricing options: Ensure that the security software vendor offers flexible and plentiful licensing and pricing options so that you can scale up or down depending on your changing needs. Make sure that you get and pay for the exact amount of security that you require.
Support and maintenance: A vendor with an established presence and a track record of providing good support and system maintenance is a key requirement. Ensure that you do a thorough background check and ensure that the provider will be there to help when you need them.
