Naturism, which is more recognized in pop culture as nudism, has always been practiced since the beginning of human grounding. But, there was no formal movement for nudist lifestyle until 1891 when Charles Edward Bordon Crawford, a judge in one of the districts of the Indian dependency, practiced naturism with three of his friends and documented their experience. Heinrich Pudor wrote the Nacktkultur, which represented the benefits of nudity in apprenticeship and sports participation. Richard Ungewitter proposed that fleshly fitness, reputable health, and improved moral life view are greater achieved with naturism. The practice of naturism then spread to private baths, swimming pools, and saunas. British Naturism, the main naturist organization in the U.K., has 16,000 members present.



Skinny dipping is a favourite form of naturism that is practiced by those who live in nudist colonies, as well as those who live among the mainstream society. The southwest of England is a very standard residence for naturist climbers and hikers.

Naturism clubs started in Germany in the early 1920's, but they were suppressed when the Nazis came into power. The laws against nudism were essentially reversed in 1942. But, only German citizens are allowed to register their nudist clubs, and they are only allowed to practice nudism in isolated countryside. France also has a well-liked nudism movement with the help of naturist beaches that allows anyone to go topless or go fully naked. These beaches slowly became very favored until the nude guests became the drawing power itself.

Those who oppose naturism do so because they believe the lifestyle is wrong on a moral level. They think that humans were meant to be covered, and they tend to believe that the lifestyle has a negative impact on children. There are some who say that naturism announces children too early to sexual ideas and practices. There is also a misunderstood belief that naturism is related to sexual intercourse. They believe that those who commune with nature while naked, are more likely to engage in unusual sexual practices. They think that naturism is naturally connected to other acts such as having multiple partners.

Naturism is a term used to describe nudism, which is a lifestyle where individuals select nudity over clothing. This started in Germany, but was later embraced by myriads other cultures and types of members of public. It isn't related to sexual practices, though some citizens still have this misconception.
