United States' citizens fear breast cancer the most because it is one of the leading causes of death in this new millennium. However, they tend to overlook colon cancer which is nearly as dangerous. It kills just about as much, and truly, no one can be a fan.



Very rarely can you escape chemotherapy when you have to deal with colon cancer. Painfull as this is, it comes only after you have been operated upon to remove the tumor itself. At least, the chief source of your problems has to be gotten rid of first, which is a very necessary first step to surviving the condition.

Colon cancer requires a colonoscopy to diagnose. After diagnosis, you usually need a bit of surgery to remove the primary tumor in your bowel. It doesn't end here, though; typically you have to endure some chemotherapy too, to rid you of the chances of the disease spreading,

Colonoscopy, surgery, chemotherapy. This is often the chain of processes from diagnosis to cure for colon cancer. If complications arise along the way, you might have to include a number of other not-too-pleasant steps amongst these, but primarily, this is it.

Of the myriad of cancer cases all over the world, lung cancer is probably the most well known, followed by breast cancer. Colon cancer comes in third, being also the second in reputation as a cause for cancer deaths.

Apparently, cancer is not as rampant in Canada as it is in the United States, or perhaps it is just a situation with population. The US has up to 100,000 people being infected by colon cancer every year. Canada has only twenty thousand such cases.

The Canadian Cancer Society oversees cancer situations and records each year in Canada. In the United States, the American Cancer Society does the same. Canada records each year, about 20,000 new cases of colorectal cancer, while the US records a hundred thousand.
