Let me give you an example of how powerful this question can be. When I left my job in “Corporate America” to pursue my passion to teach, I realized that I was going to have to take a substantial pay cut.
Then one day I was driving to school, and I asked myself, “Wouldn't it be great if they paid us more to do what we love?” Then God spoke to my heart and reminded me that teaching wasn't about my paycheck, it was about my purpose: to teach students. Then the next thought that pop into my head changed my life; it was the question:
“How can I serve more students?”
I asked this question every day for about a month and recorded my answers on a tape recorder as I drove to school. I came up with dozens of ideas, including speaking, writing books, training teachers, doing audio and video programs, hosting a talk show, writing a syndicated column, building a web site, etc.
I managed to take action on most of my ideas; and the rest, as they say, is history. I went from teaching about 175 students a year to currently reaching more than 65,000 a year (not to mention the hundreds of thousands of students I reach and teach each month on my web site and through columns and articles I write).
Not only have I been able to reach more students and impact more lives, my love for teaching, (as well my income), have all increased. You GIVE first, THEN you RECEIVE. So go ahead, don't just sit there, ask the question:
How can I serve more students as a teacher?
The Ultimate Question Book
Information about spirituality in every form always asks the same question: ?Do you know who you really are?
We live in a relative universe where we are able to tell what something is by comparing it to something that it is not. A car is not a chair. A mouse is not an elephant. A human is not a telephone. And, of course, you are not me. At least not on the physical plane of the relative.
This concept of relativity allows us to define and label most of the known universe but never really comes close to describing ?who you really are.? The reason for this is very simple. You are much more than a physical body. Describing your human body is easy. If you were just your human body you could be known as the person with the long blonde hair, or the person with the bald head. These are physical traits and they are part of your physical make-up but most people would agree that they are merely descriptions of your body but they don't answer the question of ?Who are you??
These physical descriptions don't take into account the non-physical part of you like your personality or your memories or your aspirations. These are the non-physical aspects of you that go much deeper into understanding the real you but they don't complete the equation either.
You are not your body.
There is more to you than your physical body that travels this earth and experiences all of the wonderful things that come into your life through your thoughts, words and deeds.
There is more to you than your non-physical self that makes up your personality and allows you to think the thoughts you think, have your memory of past experiences and allows your imagination to work towards your own particular desires.
The equation is complete when you add in the spirit part of your beingness. This is the meta-physical part of you that is your connection to ?Source Energy?. It is the warehouse of the totality of you. It is the you before this physical form of you existed and it is the you after this physical form is no more. It is the eternal and infinite nature in you that connects you to the eternal and infinite process of life.
Body, Mind and Spirit
Who you really are is a three-part being made up of your physical body, your non-physical mind and your meta-physical spirit. You are a body, mind, spirit being and in the ultimate reality of you, you are infinite and eternal.
Isn't that liberating? To know that you are infinite and eternal? To know that you never really die? You merely change form to go on to your next creation. Use this awareness of your true nature to make this present life situation one of Joy, Peace and Love.
This is your true nature. Who you really are is love. And not just love, but Unconditional Love. Your source is ?Unconditional Love?. You are one with your source and you are ?Unconditional Love'. You are here in this physical universe with one mission, to experience Unconditional Love in all of its different perspectives.
Every experience in your life fulfills that agenda. When you understand this concept completely you will begin to know, in this current reality, ?Who You Really Are.?
