Cellular Phones and Cellular Phone Technologies have advanced by leaps and bounds since their introduction on the market. I remember when the first large programmable phone, made by Motorola, was introduced and only society's elite and well off persons could afford them and use them in their lifestyle. I distinctly remember my father having one because he was a pilot, who flew people around and had to be ready at a moment's notice because at any time he could get the call to get the plane ready and charter his clients from point to point. Sometimes he would use it while I was with him and people would stare at him like he was a celebrity, and it truly was entertaining to see people gawking at him, simply because he had a mobile phone.

Now, times have dramatically changed. It seems that nearly everybody has a cell phone on their person at all times, these days. Even children under the age of 10 can be seen with a cell phone texting and talking to their friends and family. Cell phones and mobile communications have transitioned our lives and the technological diffusion has helped to create an even faster pace world of tending to business on-the-fly. The world has fast-forwarded from the programmable and bulky bag cellular phone days, when in the early to mid-nineties, beepers were popular because if someone needed to get in touch with you, you could get the message on the beeper and return the call either on a landline or a cellular phone. This was convenient because for me, I could use a landline and not run up expensive cellular phone service bills.

Communications demands have spurred the development of advanced media services, and cell phone accessories to provide a tool for our lives, as well as convenient and entertaining features. As these advances have surfaced throughout time, the size of pricey cellular phone service bills have also decreased substantially in size, making all of the fun gadgets and useful cell phone features very affordable to almost everyone, regardless of income level. Today, some of the most interesting services are available through your cell phone. Bluetooth accessories allow for a hands-free communication that you can easily use while driving, or walking through a busy airport. I remember several years ago when I determined that it was too dangerous to talk and drive, so I paid almost $500 to have a hands-free system installed into my car. Now Bluetooth devices are as cheap as approximately $60 making hands free communication affordable to most everyone. Internet access is even readily available on cell phones, enabling users to surf, check e-mail, shop, pay bills, etc.

It's difficult to predict technologies of the future, although some of these advances we can easily see coming. Life is truly enhanced, but our culture and traditional ways are modified by the diffusion of technological advances in communications. It is up to you to decide if it is a better place with cell phones and their accessories.
