What was striking in difference, however, was that the men were twice as likely than the women to be in the top and bottom ten percentile of intelligence. Women tended to be grouped closer to the brighter middle.



This may explain a lot. Women are more in a general grouping on average. And so at any large gathering of family or work mates, if you look around you may notice this and how it fits with my own experiences of life in an editorial newspaper setting.

The most brilliant were the financial and editorial males, the women handled many managerial and secretarial duties well, and the ones being fired were the occasional unruly or disruptive males.

But generalization is from my own experience. But I think at a deeper level it is important to realize that this may explain why many young males apparently drop out of school now, and it is the young females who win the awards and go on to higher education and are becoming the doctors.

And we applaud this, as my own grand daughters have more potential ahead of them with modern life opening up opportunities for females as never before.

The concern may need to be turned towards my grandsons and the boys of their age and coming who may be dropping behind, and there are many societal challenges facing boys now; loss of face to remain in school with the girls, more money to be made on the street, lack of encouragement, whatever.

Boys love machines, and perhaps trade and skills schools could be encouraged to have the boys learn to read the manuals and understand each word before they get to fire the machine up and move some dirt.

So while the lady doctors may be their sisters, they can make a good life for themselves and see what they can do after they learn the skills to do it.

Inside every standard classroom is a not so good a student lad looking out the window. He loves to watch the digger men working that machine to put in new drains and does not heard a word his teacher is saying.

The girls are all alert and at work, Mervin the class brain has his hand up, and our lad, Tom or Huck has teacher pull the blinds down so he can pay attention and learn or never get ahead, or even a job.

Understanding each new study and then watching for any counter punch of another study may further reveal, we go forward. This finding may explain why the Nobel Prize Science Podiums, and most jail cells are male dominated. Well done with the patents, gents.

Meanwhile, we may need more work on creating opportunities for those who fall though.Many resource jobs out west are in need of workers who can get trained and can get there.
