This is because insurance can help reduce the cost expenses in these things. One that commonly needs repairs and maintenance is the boiler. However before insuring your boiler, find out first if you are the one that needs to insure the boiler. There are cases that you are not the one responsible in insuring your boiler.



Unless you own your own home - and live in it - you don't need to buy heating insurance. If you rent from a private landlord, or live in social housing provided by your local council or a housing association, it's your landlord's responsibility to maintain your heating system, and to arrange yearly boiler inspections.

What is considered an emergency? Some providers don't consider a lack of hot water to be an emergency, while others only consider it an emergency during the winter. Speaking personally, I would find that a bit of an emergency. You have to shop around.

The next thing you need to ask is if your boiler eligible for cover? Boilers older than 15 years are excluded from many plans, while those more than seven years old might require an inspection before you can cover them. Also, check that the make of the boiler will be covered by your chosen plan. Many heating cover plans have a 30 day no claims period to avoid people signing up on the day their boiler breaks down to avoid paying emergency repair costs.

The best people to go to first are British Gas. They provide more boiler cover than any other provider in the country and have an excellent reputation for this kind of thing. Again, shop around. There are many different policies offered by different companies and in a quirk unique to boiler insurance there is very little standardization meaning that one provider's deal may be wildly different from another's, so keep your eyes peeled for the best policy.
