Also make sure that if it is going to be a vegetable or an herb garden, you try and use organic fertilizer because it will not affect that flavor of the food. Wooden chip mulch or any good compost would be a better choice than ordinary fertilizer.

You might think that having a backyard compost heap something of an impossibility but it will be worth its weight in gold once it starts providing you with the goods. While fresh home brew compost is rich in nutrients, it might prove to be unrealistic for the herb and vegetable garden. Mulch is a good substitute for a home compost mixture but make sure to use the softer woods like redwood or pine because the faster it breaks down the better. Whatever you use - mulch, compost or fertilizer, just make sure that they are mixed well.

Gardening Tip #3: When the soil is ready, do not plant the seedlings immediately. At least that is what I feel. For instance, plants with larger radii should be clubbed together. All tall plants at the back and shorter plants in the front make a lot of sense.

Gardening Tip #4: One of the most important points to remember is to water your garden regularly. Depending on the size of your house, watering a garden can be tough. Choose anything from a large sprinkling system to a time on a hose - your automatic watering system can provide many options. Gardening can be an engaging and rewarding pastime which gives you pleasure, beauty and of course, food also.
