Training A Bichon Frise

    View:
If you are considering getting a Bichon Frise dog, then you first need to make yourself more aware of Bichon Frise grooming and what it entails. This is important because Bichon Frise grooming requires a lot more time and effort than the grooming of most other breeds of dog, and so you are going to have to be not only willing but also able to put this forth.

These dogs are truly adorable, and if properly trained they make great family pets. But you do have to make sure that you understand all that is involved in terms of Bichon Frise grooming. Regular grooming is not just advised it is essential in order to keep your dog's fur clean and tangle free. These are very high maintenance dogs and need owners that are going to be able to give them the attention that they need. They also have serious separation anxiety and get upset if their owners are gone for more than a few hours at a time.

Bichon Frise grooming can definitely be a time consuming process. These dogs tend to shed a lot and often, and so it is important that you brush them frequently, even once a day or more if you have the time. Because their coat is so soft and cottony it can easily get matted up and so it is important that you spend time de-matting them, particularly before and after each bath.

The best idea is that you have hair shed and mats removed before bathing your dog and that you fluff dry them with a blow dryer. It is never a good idea to let a Bichon Frise air dry because this can leave knots in the fur that can be incredibly difficult to get out.

Remember that if you are looking to get your Bichon to show quality, then you are going to have to put even more time and effort into their grooming, and you will most likely want to take them to a grooming professional to make sure that the job gets done right.

The bottom line is that the Bichon Frise grooming routine is one that is going to require a lot of your time and effort. Bichon Frise cuts can be difficult to do yourself or expensive to have a professional do it for you. As long as you are willing to make the sacrifice here and put this time and effort forth, then you should have no problems and should find a great pet and friend in the Bichon Frise.

They also tend to have problems with socialization, which is why it is so important for Bichon owners to make sure that they socialize their dog early on in life. These dogs need to learn how to interact not only with people but with other dogs as well.

However if you have decided that you are going to be willing and able to put forth the time and effort required by these dogs, then you should feel free to go ahead and get one yourself.
Training A Bichon Frise
When it comes to Bichon Frise breeding the most important part is to select the right mate for you dog. You want to choose a mate that has qualities you want to see carried to the puppies and at least a few generations to come. Make sure the male and female are healthy and have no genetic faults that can be passed on to the puppy or jeopardize the puppies health.

Having a healthy female will also make the pregnancy and birthing process easier. Before breeding your female make sure you support her with excellent nutrition and supplements to boost her energy and allow her to stay healthy during the pregnancy.

If you have good record keeping you can increase your chance of success with Bichon Frise breeding. It is especially important to do this with the female and you should create a history folder just for the female dog in which you can keep important dates such as the when you first see the signs of her going into heat, any changes in her behavior that you notice and a history of any medical issues. You also want to choose a veterinarian that has a good working relationship with you since they will be able to help you with the entire breeding process and then with the puppies' health after they are born.

Even though the male has fewer reproductive problems than the female, any problems they may have are harder to correct. This is why you need to check for anatomical defects, low sperm, infection of the reproductive organs, hypothyroidism, arthritis of the spine and brucellosis in the male dog before breeding. It is also important that you take your male dog to the vet right away to be thoroughly checked out before proceeding with breeding any time that you notice your dog doesn't show any signs of being interested in breeding.

The most important thing to focus on once you start Bichon Frise breeding is timing. The reason for many failed breeding attempts is wrong timing. There are a variety of tests your vet can run to help you narrow down the best breeding time for your female, but the process will always be a hit and miss. Most of the time a female dog will start going into heat every six months after one year of age.

Before breeding you should make sure your female dog is full-grown and developed because then she will be more likely to have a pregnancy with fewer complications.

Typically the female will be ready to breed about ten to twelve days after they go into heat. The best option can be to get the male and female dog together early and just keep trying. It is better to be early than late and have to wait another six months for an opportunity. Your vet can tell you whether or not impregnation occurred at about the twenty-second day after breeding.
