Traps Of Mental Paradigms

    View:
We are all victims of specific thought patterns, and these patterns or perspectives dictate much of our view of the world and the manner in which we function in the world. We must be mindful of these paradigm's and work toward breaking out of them and allowing ourselves to open up and receive new ideas and views.

These views of the world have always existed through out all of human existence, and have always been proven to be either wrong, or not entirely correct. The world is flat, god is angry when a solar eclipse happens, the sun goes around the earth.

These are all paradigm's of societies through out history that were common beliefs, but proven to be inaccurate. Each of us hold our own paradigm's about life and the world and how things function. We use these paradigm's to function in the world and live life on a daily basis, however, we must realize that these paradigm's often times limit us and are not the whole picture.

Paradigm's are not a bad thing. Our ideas and beliefs about the world are what allow us to navigate the world and function. We have paradigm's about our responsibilities as parents, spouses, employee's and so forth. These paradigm's help us understand how we are to function in the world.

What we must be careful of though is becoming trapped in these views of the world and limiting ourselves in our ability to expand and accomplish more. When western society believed that the world was flat and that an explorer would fall off the edge of the earth, western society limited itself to exploring and discovering lands that were not yet a part of their reality. That is until Christopher Columbus decided not to believe the paradigm and completely shattered western socieities belief about it.

We must learn to explore outside of our own personal paradigm's and beliefs as well. This is the only way we will ever begin to expand on what we can have, do, and be within our own lives. Our paradigm's are our views of the world, and they allow us to navigate, so we must learn to expand the map just as we would buy a new road map if an old one became out dated.

Many people out there claim that the law of attraction is satanic or a bunch of bull and does not work. This may or may not be true, I personally do not agree because I have seen it work time and time again. The point is that many of us are quick to label something without taking the time to understand it and come to our own conclusions, simply because of our personal paradigm.

We can see this in children as a perfect example. Many children will see something their parents don't like to eat and in return decide they don't like it either. Or they will simply refuse to eat something because they are convinced that they don't like it. Even if they have never eaten it, they are positive they don't like it.

I see it in my own children all the time and in adult's as well. People get stuck in a paradigm about something and become convinced that their paradigm is the absolute truth. We must be mindful and aware and allow ourselves to explore in order to find out if the paradigm we hold needs improving, or if our current paradigm about it is true enough to work for us.

Most importantly, we must always, always realize that our current paradigm is never complete and never 100% accurate. Nothing we believe is the whole picture, and none of our current paradigm's are completely true about anything. Work toward expanding your paradigm's and open yourself up to receive new ideas and new paradigm's, then as an adult, decide if the paradigm shift will serve you or not.
