Forget all about alexander graeme bell. On 3 april 1973, dr martin cooper, who was a motorola employee, called his rival Joel Engel, who was head of research at AT&T's Bell Labs. doctor Martin made the phone call while he was on a street in new york & did so through the first Motorola DynaTAC prototype in front of journalists. motorola has a rich history of making portable radios for vehicles, especially two way radios for taxi cabs & police cars. despite this, recognisable mobile phones have existed since the 1950s at least.

The very first mobile phones are now called first generation (1g) mobile telephones.

The first handheld phone to be released in the usa was the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X in 1983. mobile phones started to gain popularity in the 1980s with the introduction of cell phones that were based on cell networks. mobile telephones were originally much larger than current ones, & they were initially designed for installation in vehicles only, which is why they were called the car phone. these chunky devices were later converted for use as portable telephones the size of a briefcase & the rest is history.

The first second generation mobile phones were commercially launched in 1991 in finland. While 2-g networks were completely digital, the previous 1-g networks were analog. one of the benefits that 2-g networks had over the 1-g predecessors was that telephone conversations were digitally encrypted. This was big because third parties could to eaves drop on calls on analog networks. in addition to this, 2-g systems were much more efficient, which allowed far more mobile phones to be used. Finally, 2-g introduced data services for mobile, which include text messages.

After the launch of 2-g mobile phones, the previous mobile telephone systems were named 1-g. whereas radio signals on 1-g networks are analog, & on 2-g networks they're digital, both the 1g and 2g systems use digital signals to connect the radio towers & the rest of the phone system.

After 2-g mobile telephones, 3g mobile phone technology arrived. 3g is the term applied to the third generation of mobile phone standards & technology.

3g technologies permit network operators including 02 & vodafone to offer their clients a bigger range of advanced services, which include video calls, & broadband wireless internet.

The first 3g network was launched by NTT DoCoMo in japan in may of 2001. it received a commercial launch in japan on october, 1 2001. the first European pre commercial 3g network was launched on the isle of man by Manx Telecom, who're owned by bt, in December 2001.

We hope our article has given you more information on the history of the mobile phone. As you've probably guessed, the mobile telephone's come a long way and will probably continue to progress further still.

4g technology will give mobile phones a new lease of life, promising live streaming of tv and radio shows & much more. For the mobile phone, it is clear that the sky's the limit.

US text messaging rapidly increasing

Although 79% of consumers find the idea of mobile ads annoying, early efforts at mobile marketing have revealed that consumers will happily engage in campaigns as long as marketers deliver valuable information or content. According to Forrester Research, a growing number of consumers are shifting from voice-only mobile services to other activities , creating a viable audience for mobile marketing. 35% of US households that own a mobile phone currently engage in text messaging and 11% access the mobile Internet

$1.6 Billion in revenues from Mobile Gaming in Asia

Mobile gaming in Asia/Pacific has been successfully established, with revenues reaching $1.56 bln in 2005, reports In-Stat. Mobile gaming in Asia/Pacific will reach $4.4 bln in 2010. 3G users spend 70% more per month on mobile gaming than 2G users. Interest levels in mobile gaming are low, with more than half of both 2G and 3G users indicating they would be unlikely to play mobile games within the next six months.
