There's many types of incontinence, although every single one is down to a problem with bladder.

Our urine is made by the kidneys and it collects in the bladder. when it is full of urine, the bladder empties. When it is emptying, the the bladder's muscular wall has to contract at the same time as the band of muscle in the bladder relaxed. much cases of incontinence in people is a result of a problem with one or both of these processes.

Incontinence can show itself in a variety of different ways. symptoms vary from urine leakage during coughing, sneezing, laughing, or lifting, to small amounts of urine leaking or dribbling from the body unexpectedly & often.

If you have got any of these symptoms, go and visit your dr for advice and diagnosis. Don't be embarrassed about the intimate nature of your problem - the dr will frequently see similar cases.

As we've already mentioned, there are many types of incontinence. These include:

Stress incontinence, which is the most widespread form of incontinence and one that is widespread in women that have had kids. Stress incontinence is when urine leaks during sneezing, laughing and other stuff that put pressure on the bladder.

Urge incontinence, which is when you know that you want to urinate although you can't hold it in long enough to make it to the bathroom in time. for this reason, urine can leak the minute you want to urinate.

Reflex incontinence is another range of the problem and it usually occurs due to a spinal or neurological trauma or disease where there's little or no voluntary control or sensation of the bladder.

a handful of people may suffer from mixed type incontinence, which means, for example, sufferers of stress incontinence may develop other strains of the problem.

There's a vast variety of different treatments available for incontinence.

One of them is bladder training. this treatment requires you to empty your bladder at set times, before gradually increasing the duration between intervals. this treatment needs to be followed for at least six weeks to see if it is going to work.

Alternatively, your dr may want to prescribe some medicines to treat your problem. hrt may also be handy if you've been through the menopause & suffer from an overactive bladder.

If you've stress incontinence & other incontinence treatments have not been effective, your doctor may recommend a surgical procedure to support your urethra and bladder neck. There's a vast variety of surgical procedures available, which means that you will have to visit your doctor for more info.

You'll also discover that there are several incontinence products available that'll help you to control your symptoms. These include throw-away pants to help you cope with light incontinence & a wide variety of incontinence pads.

You should also find incontinence bed protection & skin care, which means that you can stay as clean & dry as possible.

Life Trust chairman and former Conservative minister, Lord Hunt of Wirral, said that people in the UK were very good at living lengthy lives, but poor at making key financial decisions to fund their later years. In order to combat this problem, Lord Hunt said that the possibility of more innovative savings schemes should be explored.

As the number of pensioners will overtake the number of children in the UK in the next two years, the formation of the Life Trust is essential. Lord Hunt explains: “Many people simply do not realise the scale of the financial impacts associated with increasing longevity, and it is precisely this sentiment that lies behind the Foundation’s formation. We are today pledging to take a leading role in providing people and institutions with the knowledge they require to face up to the fact we are all living longer. This is not an issue which is going to go away, and we want to play our part in diffusing the ticking time bomb of longevity.”

Mike Lake, Life Trust Foundation director and CEO of Help the Aged, echoed this sentiment. He said: “A person aged 55 today has a one in two chance of living to 90 and a one in four chance of living to 95. The fact is that the UK’s population is growing older by the day – we are all, on average, living longer - and this has alarming consequences for both society and the individual. More than ever we need to be aware of the implications of living a long life, and a vital part of this is for people to consider their longevity hand-in-hand with their future finances.”

The Life Trust Foundation has been established to investigate the financial implications of an older population. Experts from Oxford University will join the not-for-profit foundation in order to analyse all current research on financial issues surrounding longevity. The group will also carry out research that looks into the ways other countries are coping with the economic challenges posed by an ageing population.

In addition to this, it is thought that the group will set up a dedicated consumer panel of older people aged between 60 and 85. They will use this panel to analyse the money, health, lifestyle and relationships of retired people in the UK, and their findings will be presented at a seminar in the autumn.
