Use The Force Movie

    View:
You're planning your wedding. Everybody has advice – from your parents to your future in-laws to the guy at the grocery store. But what do you want? You, today's bride and groom, have a myriad of options at your fingertips. You can choose a traditional wedding with all the bells and whistles. You can fly off to Vegas and be married by an Elvis impersonator. You can have a themed wedding that reflect your common interests and (dare we say?) obsessions.

Take, for instance, a couple who met playing a popular online game. They might choose a wedding theme that represents that world where they met, and they might wear whatever a Night Elf would wear to a wedding. Couples who love to skydive might have a skydiving wedding. There are no limits to what you can do on your special day.

One theme that has lasted throughout the last few decades has been that of a Star Wars theme. Who doesn't love Star Wars? You might think that it would be too difficult to pull off a Star Wars wedding, or you might think that people would think you were silly. What do you care what they think? It's YOUR wedding! You can do it in a subtle manner or you can go all out – but don't write off the idea until you consider the idea.

Why Star Wars? What is it that makes the Star Wars mythos have such staying power? It could be the simple idea behind the story – that good and evil truly do exist and that people choose, through their actions and alliances, which one they advocate. The Star Wars movies illustrate this theme again and again. There is a Dark Side of the Force, and the Force itself. If you are someone on the Dark Side of the Force, you chose to be there. You became seduced by greed, the lust for power, or other dark desires that turned you away from the Good side.

Another important theme is that no matter how bad you are, there is always time to return to the Good side of the Force. Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vadar because he allowed hate, despair, grief, and the lust for power overtake him. He committed all sorts of atrocities (like blowing up Princess Leia's home planet, cutting off his own son's hand, etc.) but in the end his love for his children saved him from the Dark Side of the Force. So his spirit was redeemed and at peace.

Isn't that sort of what a wedding is about? Regardless of your past, you have this amazing opportunity to start life anew with the person you love. You both have put aside your past transgressions, you've forgiven each other for all your faults, and you've decided to share your lives in a union of truth and love. What could be closer to the good side of the Force than that?

So, if you want to use this Star Wars theme to illustrate the magic and the goodness of your union, there are easy ways to incorporate this theme without spending a lot of money or time. For instance, you could merely get a Star Wars cake topper, or you could incorporate Star Wars action figures into your centerpieces. You could include Star Wars graphics on your invitations, or you could hand out Lego Star Wars party favors to your guests.

If you want to go all out, you can do all of the above plus you and the wedding party can dress in Star Wars Themed outfits. Check out some online photos for more ideas for Star Wars themed weddings, and may the force be with you!

My response was, "I like that description of my teaching style.?

Beau said you know there's only a few of us that teach this way. I agreed.

Teaching the feel of the golf swing has taken years of lesson experience and trial and error. It is, however, a great way to get my students to achieve the look and technique of the best players in the world. In other words, I can get students to blend all the technically correct positions without being too mechanical. An analogy would be having a new car with no engine in it to make it run smooth.

Many golfers try to achieve positions by looking at segmented pictures of golf swings, but never really discover the true force that drives the look. Building a new car that looks good on the outside but has no engine will never run. There has to be an inner force to drive the look of the swing.

Another analogy would be drawing a picture by numbers. The drawing looks okay but take away the numbers and try drawing it again. There is no sensory blend of mental and physical to create the picture. The force in the golf swing is rotary. Your body has to turn against the friction of your feet to generate enough centripetal force (inner force) to swing the club head with enough velocity (centrifugal) to hit powerful golf shots. F= mv2/r is the formula for centripetal force.

The tighter the inner circle or force, the faster the outer velocity. Visualize a skater performing a pirouette. The tighter the movement the faster they spin. When you perform this golf swing, your center force must oppose the outer force of the club head swinging. As a result, all the fundamentally correct positions will be achieved automatically without trying to force the positions.

In other words the inner rotational force will act upon your body causing all parts to react and be pulled taut. The club head will swing into the ball if you allow it. Any steering or guiding the club head at the ball will interfere with the forces and errant shots will result. These principles are what allow me to drive the ball over 300 yards with only one hand on the golf club.

I can tell you this, it starts in your feet and moves up through your legs and into your torso. Then it moves up through your shoulders, out through the arms and hands and finally to the club head. It is the true source of effortless power, consistency and control. It is lasting and a move you will never forget. It ensures every golfer, regardless of age, gender or bio physical stature to swing the club with effortless ease, yet tremendous velocity. It is the force that creates gyroscopic stability. It is the force that makes a yo-yo, yo and it is the force that will make all of you better golfers.
