It is often witnessed in almost every industry that as soon as a product starts gaining wide acceptance in the market, numerous clones crop up to diminish the manufacturers sales. In the golf world too, there are plenty of golf club clones available. However, unlike other industries, such clones are absolutely legal and normally adopt the popular manufacturers production methods to offer the same quality at a far better price.
While the performance of such clones may not equal the originals all the way, they do ensure that you get a quality product good enough for your money's worth.
You must be extremely cautious as there are some illegal counterfeit clubs also doing the rounds in the market, making it very essential to learn to differentiate the legal ones.
These fake club clones are usually produced to deceive the customers into thinking that they are buying the genuine clones. Following are some important tips you must keep in mind to help you distinguish an illegal clone from a legal golf club clone:
The Original Clones
The original gold club clones are like any of their counterparts in other industries. They are merely adaptation of a time tested and quality product of a popular manufacturer. Just like the small vehicle manufacturers take inspiration from the designs of premier producers like Mercedes, BMW etc., the small golf manufacturers implement the designs and techniques of high-end manufacturers to produce cost-effective golf club clones for the common man.
When you buy a legal golf club clone all that you are missing is the brand name and maybe the guarantee offered by the big companies. Most often, the quality of the golf club clone is as good as the original version and sometimes even better. The major difference is only the price factor.
The Illegal Clones
While the legal golf club clones are made with original manufacturers permission, the illegal ones just rip off the genuine clubs copyrights and patents. This amounts to stealing and most of the times the duplicate version produced is just a dummy used to con the innocent buyers.
The original clone manufacturers are very honest in their dealings and present themselves as nothing but small time players trying to offer you value for your money. On the contrary, the illegal manufacturers will try their best to make you believe that they are the original copyright holders. A popular example of such duplicates is the 'King Snake' which was a rip off of Cobra's King Cobra.
At the outset, you may feel very impulsive and tempted to buy such fake clones as they look great and are cheap too. However, you must be aware that these are very inferior quality items and are produced just to rip you off your hard earned money.
Due to such fake clones, even the genuine golf club clones have started losing their market share. However, if you possess good eye for details, you will always be able to make out the difference between the fakes and the originals. Please bear in mind that the original golf club clones use the same raw materials, parts and technology that is used in the top brand production. It is just that since they don't enjoy the same market positioning as the popular brands, they have to sell their products at discounted prices.
Used Golf Club Values
Great places to play are just a short drive away when you are exploring the Minnesota rural golf landscape. Kimball Golf Club is another example of a fine golf course that is a reasonable driving distance from the Twin Cities area, especially if you are coming from the northwestern suburbs. A quick journey west on Interstate 94 and then south on state highway 15 brings you to Kimball in just a few minutes.
Another fantastic feature of this Joel Goldstrand designed golf course is the reasonable fee that is charged to play at Kimball Golf Club. The fee to play 18-holes on the weekend is just $29.00 and power cart rental is also available for an additional charge, see clubhouse for details. Kimball Golf Club has available a fantastic Internet coupon that can be found on their website www.kimballgolf.com this coupon allows you to play 18-holes of golf with power cart rental for one person for only $28.00 if you tee off after 1:00PM on weekends or anytime on weekdays. In the heart of the summer season the sun does not set until after 8:30PM in central Minnesota, this allows plenty of time to take advantage of this fantastic rate. Make sure to visit their website and print off the coupon to take advantage of this special rate.
Kimball Golf Club was started in 1967 with play beginning in 1968. The back nine was opened in 1997 with an intermixing of some holes from the new and original sections of the golf course. There are many challenging holes with dramatic elevation changes as well as blind shots into greens, which make the golfer really trust their swing and play the shot by the yardage provided. Two great examples of this are holes 9 and 18. Hole number 9 is a 540-yard par-5 that requires three well-struck shots into a sloped green. Hole number 18 is a 426-yard par 4 that hides the green until you are approximately 150 yards out. If you can place your tee shot from 150 to 130 yards from the green, you have a nice look at the green. If you hit the tee shot farther than that you risk dropping down into a ravine. I elected to play to the green in three shots and making a one-putt for a par. Using ones imagination can go a long way on this golf course in helping you to post a lower score. Remembering that every par 4 doesn't automatically mean that you play your driver from the tee box and also to take advantage of birdie putts when the opportunities present themselves.
A great example of this is the signature hole, number 15. Hole 15 is a 321-yard par 4. In typical Joel Goldstrand fashion this hole plays to an island green. All that is required of the golfer is to hit a 200-yard tee shot and then an easy wedge shot is all that remains. Execution of these two shots is what separates the golfer from a birdie attempt and a double-bogey or much worse.
Kimball Golf Club measures 6,652 yards from the back tees and has a slope index of 129 and a course rating of 71.9. Head Professional Judd Bonham along with Course Superintendent Curt Erickson do a fine job to make Kimball Golf Club an enjoyable value for the golfing public of central Minnesota as well as the Twin Cities area. Please call 320-398-2285 to make a tee time.
