Seattle is a large, compact city. It can be hard to travel around the town on one's own on a day to day basis, little lone while moving. All that traffic is difficult to maneuver around and with the city so closely looming it can be quiet the daunting task to move from one house to another. Not to mention that doing it all yourself, even if friends are conned into being involved, can be a difficult feat.
Luckily, there are numerous services to aid in this moving process. Some may use an Uhaul but with the traffic most people will be uncomfortable driving around in the city. There are a number of other moving services in Seattle as well. My suggestion for folks relocating in Seattle may I suggest renting a moving pod. These handy things are essentially giant storage containers that can store your personal stuff for moving. A pod company will deliver them to your door as well or on the side of the street in case you live in an apartment.
It's easier to use a rental service when you can load at your own pace. Obvious there is a limit to how long you'll want to load as you are charged for time, but it is far more convenient then other services. After it's loaded, the company will come by and move it where it needs to go. They can take it across town or just down the street; wherever it needs to go. This obviously relieves the stress of having to dodge traffic in crowded city streets with an oversized truck you're not familiar enough to drive.
There are a couple concerns everyone should be aware of while using a pod. If you contact a cheap moving pod company, watch out for rickety looking pods. Watch out for cracks or slits, particularly near a door or the opening, as water, dust, and other debris can get into the pod and all over the personal property. Also, be aware of charges and fees. The more shady of companies are always looking to gouge you with fees to make a buck. Even the reputable services will look to earn more off of unsuspecting individuals.
There are certainly some concerns with renting a moving pod but for those looking to move on their own it is still a solid solution. They're plenty of benefits to renting a pod, and if you have to move on your own it's an even greater resource.
